MEINONG ROBOT Triumphs at LEAP East 2026
HONG KONG SAR – MEINONG ROBOT, a participant in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) ecosystem, achieved significant recognition by securing the 2nd Runner-Up position in the Rocket Fuel East Startup Competition at LEAP East 2026. This accomplishment not only earned the company a US$10,000 equity-free award but also provided vital exposure to global investors, aiding its business expansion efforts. Another company within the HKSTP ecosystem, GenEditBio, also distinguished itself by advancing to the Top 6 finalists among over 500 competing startups.
HKSTP’s Role as Exclusive Tech Ecosystem Partner
HKSTP collaborated with more than 30 park companies to represent the region at LEAP East, serving as the event’s exclusive Tech Ecosystem Partner. This partnership facilitated over 1,500 business discussions and meetings from July 8 to July 10, 2026. The event marked a significant milestone as LEAP East made its debut in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together technology leaders, investors, policymakers, and tech ventures in Hong Kong.
Innovations Showcased at the HKSTP Pavilion
Under the theme “Gateway to the NEXT,” the HKSTP Pavilion showcased innovations from 23 park companies across four key sectors: Life and Health Tech, GreenTech & Sustainability, Smart Cities & Urban Tech, and AI, Data & Robotics. The pavilion attracted more than 3,000 visits, highlighting the diverse technological advancements emerging from the HKSTP ecosystem.
Terry Wong, CEO of HKSTP, emphasized the importance of hosting LEAP East in Hong Kong. He stated that the event underscores Hong Kong’s role as a gateway for tech companies into global markets. Wong noted that the city’s unique position allows it to connect Middle Eastern capital with Asia-Pacific markets and supply chains in Mainland China, reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a prominent innovation and technology hub.
Strategic Insights and Global Impact
Wong articulated three critical messages for the innovation and technology (I&T) community stemming from LEAP East’s decision to host its first overseas edition in Hong Kong. He highlighted that the Middle East and other emerging markets represent strategic opportunities for tech companies, driven by various application scenarios in smart cities, green energy, and AI infrastructure. The ambitious transformation agenda under Saudi Vision 2030 presents unprecedented growth opportunities for Hong Kong’s tech sector.
Additionally, Wong pointed out that Hong Kong’s I&T community is increasingly making a global impact. The participation of HKSTP executives and park companies in international forums and discussions, along with the achievements of two park companies in the Rocket Fuel East Startup Competition, demonstrate the region’s growing influence on the global I&T stage.
Keynote Sessions and Collaborative Initiatives
Throughout the event, key figures from HKSTP, including Terry Wong, Eric Or (Chief Ecosystem Development Officer), Filla Mak (Chief Property and Asset Officer), and Dr. Charleston Sin (Head of AI & Data), participated in keynote sessions and panel discussions. They shared insights on the HKSTP ecosystem, biotech innovations, smart city developments, and advancements in AI, fostering international dialogue and collaboration.
To further strengthen connections between park companies and the global innovation community, HKSTP co-organized “Build East: Agentic AI Demo Day and Tour” with Minds by Animoca Brands. This initiative, held one day before LEAP East 2026, invited global investors and startups to explore Hong Kong’s largest I&T ecosystem and discover cross-border collaboration and investment opportunities.
