Flydubai is making a significant investment in its infrastructure by constructing a state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance center in Dubai South. This multi-million-dollar project, slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, aims to enhance the efficiency and control of the airline’s expanding fleet.
The new maintenance center will strategically sit within the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH), a zone renowned for its integrated aviation and logistics ecosystem. Located near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), the facility will encompass over 32,600 square meters, featuring an aircraft hangar, specialized workshops, and administrative offices.
This facility is not just about space; it represents a transformative leap in flydubai’s operational capabilities. By augmenting its in-house maintenance capabilities, the airline is poised to manage its fleet with an unprecedented level of autonomy, leading to faster turnaround times. This ensures that the growing fleet remains operationally ready to meet passenger demand with minimal delay.
Accelerating Fleet and Operations Expansion
Flydubai has seen remarkable growth recently, boasting a current fleet of 90 aircraft. With an average fleet age of 6.8 years, it consists of 59 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, 28 Boeing 737-800s, and three Boeing 737 MAX 9s. This impressive expansion underscores flydubai’s unwavering commitment to modernization and customer satisfaction.
Moreover, the airline has made headlines with a colossal order of 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, valued at $11 billion, during the 2023 Dubai Airshow. These Dreamliners will enhance flydubai’s long-haul capabilities and are scheduled to join the fleet in 2026.
Additionally, flydubai is set to receive over 120 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in the coming decade, including 116 MAX 8s and eight MAX 9s. This addition will elevate the airline’s fleet, providing modern and fuel-efficient options to cater to rising passenger numbers and travel demand.
Expanding European Network with New Routes
As part of its overarching strategy to enhance its infrastructure, flydubai is also broadening its network by introducing new routes in Europe. The airline has announced four new destinations for 2025, connecting Dubai to Moldova, Romania, Latvia, and Lithuania. These new services represent flydubai’s entry into the Baltic region, showcasing its dedication to serving previously underserved markets.
Notably, flydubai will become the first UAE carrier to offer nonstop flights to Riga, Latvia, and Vilnius, Lithuania. Additionally, the airline will commence direct flights to Chisinau, Moldova, and Iasi, Romania. These services will be operated with flydubai’s modern Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, ensuring a high standard of safety and comfort for passengers.
The new routes are set to launch in September and December 2025, featuring two weekly flights to Chisinau and Iasi, along with thrice-weekly services to Riga and Vilnius. These flights will operate from both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, providing travelers with increased flexibility and access to flydubai’s expanding network.

The combination of flydubai’s network expansion and the development of the new aircraft maintenance facility is set to fortify the airline’s position in the global aviation sector. With more than 135 destinations across 58 countries, flydubai is on a mission to make air travel more accessible and efficient for passengers around the world.
