Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail sign MoU to enhance UAE air-rail transport integration

Published:

Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail, the operator of the UAE’s National Rail Network, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing air-rail transport integration across the country. This agreement was formalised during the Arabian Travel Market summit and seeks to create a seamless travel experience for both residents and visitors.

The collaboration focuses on improving connectivity between Zayed International Airport and the Mohammed Bin Zayed City Passenger Station. Plans include the introduction of dedicated shuttle services to facilitate smoother transfers between the airport and the national railway network, thereby enhancing multimodal travel options.

Additionally, the partnership will explore the development of integrated booking systems for air and rail travel, as well as improved passenger services at stations. This initiative is expected to simplify travel routes and make it easier for passengers to navigate between different modes of transport.

Azza AlSuwaidi, CEO of Etihad Rail, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that since the launch of passenger rail services earlier this year, the aim is to strengthen the national railway’s role in connecting various cities and regions within the UAE. The collaboration with Etihad Airways is seen as a significant step towards achieving this goal.

The MoU represents a strategic move to enhance the overall travel experience in the UAE, aligning with the country’s vision to develop a comprehensive and efficient transport network. By integrating air and rail services, both companies aim to provide a more convenient and accessible travel option for all.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote tourism and improve transportation infrastructure in the UAE, making it a more attractive destination for international visitors.
