Cairo, Egypt – The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has inaugurated the fourth edition of “Software Testing Day,” organized by the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) at ITIDA. The event took place at the Creativa Innovation Hub in Giza and attracted notable attendees, including Eng. Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, and leading international experts in software testing and quality engineering from major technology institutions and companies.
This year’s event featured participation from approximately 42 international and local speakers, including senior experts and industry leaders. Among the distinguished attendees was Ms. Klaudia Dussa-Zieger, President of ISTQB®, along with professionals from various global technology organizations.

Eng. Ahmed Elzaher remarked on the significant growth of Software Testing Day since its inception, noting an expansion nearly fourfold in scale. This increase is attributed to heightened participation from professionals, companies, and industry experts. He emphasized that this growth signifies a rising interest in software testing and quality engineering within Egypt, marking the sector as a strategic pillar that enhances the nation’s global competitiveness in digital services.
Elzaher also pointed out that Egypt is solidifying its status as a global hub for high-value digital services, backed by a growing base of skilled technical and linguistic talent. He highlighted Egypt’s advantageous geographic location, which facilitates efficient service delivery to international markets.
AI Is Reshaping Software Quality from a Technical Step to a Strategic Function
During an opening discussion with Dr. Haitham Hamza, Chairman of SECC, Elzaher noted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on software development and testing. He stated that quality assurance is no longer merely a late-stage technical step but has evolved into a strategic design principle integrated from the earliest phases of digital product development. This evolution underscores the necessity for investment in advanced skills that align with global technological advancements.
Egypt’s Rising Role in Global Digital Delivery Models
Elzaher highlighted the increasing international confidence in Egypt’s capabilities, citing the growth of global delivery operations and AI centers within the country. He observed that multinational corporations are increasingly depending on Egyptian talent for core digital services and innovation, further establishing Egypt as a vital hub for software and digital services.
He also mentioned ITIDA’s initiatives aimed at developing digital talent and freelancers through various programs, including ITIDA Gigs and entrepreneurship support initiatives.
SECC Strengthens Egypt’s Global Certification and Tech Skills Base
Dr. Haitham Hamza presented SECC’s initiatives to enhance Egypt’s software quality ecosystem, aligning it with international standards. He reported significant growth within the Egyptian testing community, including:
- Over 17,282 ISTQB® certifications issued to Egyptian engineers
- More than 11,365 certified professionals
- 388 professionals certified in Gen-AI testing
- 12 active ISTQB certification and exam tracks
These statistics reflect Egypt’s expanding pool of internationally certified professionals, showcasing the country’s readiness to compete globally in advanced software quality disciplines.
Rapid Growth of Egypt’s Software Testing Ecosystem
The conference has shown remarkable expansion over the years:
- In 2022, there were 180 participants from 40 companies.
- By 2024, participation is expected to exceed 250 from 90 companies.
- Projections for 2025 indicate over 880 participants from 330 companies.
The event is part of the ISTQB global conference network, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for technology and IT-related events.
Pilot Launch of Software Acceptance Testing Guide
On the sidelines of the conference, SECC officially launched the pilot version of the Software Acceptance Testing Guide in Egypt. Drawing on over 25 years of SECC’s expertise, the guide establishes a unified framework for testing software systems and digital projects, aimed at enhancing quality standards in Egypt’s digital transformation initiatives. Key features of the guide include:
- Over 60 structured guidelines
- Organization into seven main domains
- Basis on global best practices
- Adaptability across various sectors and project types
The framework is designed to improve clarity of requirements, enhance execution quality, and accelerate project delivery.
Global Experts and High-Level Technical Discussions
The conference featured a keynote session titled “An Awkward Truth About Software Quality,” presented by Michael Pilaeten from SOFICO, Belgium, along with multiple high-level technical panels.
