Dubai Prepares for New Year’s Eve 2026: A Comprehensive Safety and Operations Plan

As Dubai gears up for the much-anticipated New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2026, city officials have shared detailed plans to ensure a festive yet safe environment for both residents and visitors. With a robust security and operations strategy in place, the aim is to maintain smooth mobility and uninterrupted services during this high-traffic festive occasion.

Skyscraper Celebrations with Strong Security

At a recent press briefing held at the Dubai Civil Defence headquarters, authorities confirmed the extensive preparations for what promises to be a monumental event. The Event Security Committee illustrated how these coordinated efforts emphasize Dubai’s reputation as a premier global destination for New Year festivities.

Personnel and Emergency Deployment

To effectively manage the expected influx of celebrants, nearly 9,884 Dubai Police personnel will be deployed, supplemented by 1,625 security patrols and 36 bicycles for swift responses in crowded areas.

In addition, essential marine coverage is ensured with 53 rescue boats, 34 rescue platforms, and 37 support tents strategically positioned. The civil defense will have 1,754 personnel and 165 fire engines on standby, demonstrating a well-rounded approach to emergency readiness.

Comprehensive Medical Readiness

Health-related concerns will also be addressed meticulously, with 635 paramedics and 236 ambulances placed in readiness around key event areas. Support will come from 12 nearby hospitals and clinics, alongside a dedicated workforce of 1,900 medical professionals, and 3,475 Dubai Municipality staff. Furthermore, an additional 13,502 private security personnel will contribute to maintaining a safe environment. An impressive fleet of 18,000 limousines is also prepared to meet the anticipated transport demand.

Managing Traffic and Crowds

To ensure effective crowd management and transportation access, authorities have rolled out an extensive plan.

Transportation Allocations

A fleet of 107 Metro trains, 1,300 public buses, and 14,000 taxis will be operational to facilitate travel across the city. The Roads and Transport Authority is deploying 5,565 staff members to oversee traffic flow and event access points.

Around-the-clock operations rooms will stay vigilant, with immediate-response numbers 999, 901, and 998 available.

Enhanced Ambulance Services

Dubai Ambulance is stepping up its game with 635 personnel stationed at 236 coverage points throughout Dubai and Hatta. Their resources include specialized ambulances, rapid response units, as well as electric and pedal bicycles, among others.

Quick Medical Response

Medical teams will be stationed strategically across high-density areas, coastal regions, tourist hotspots, and firework launch sites to ensure prompt medical assistance. Coordination with Dubai Police will also allow for air ambulance services when necessary.

Fireworks: A Spectacular Display

Officials have greenlighted 48 fireworks displays at 40 locations, including iconic spots like Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai, and Palm Jumeirah. This thoughtful arrangement aims to distribute crowds more evenly while ensuring safety and efficient movement across the city. Authorities encourage residents and visitors to adhere to safety guidelines for a smooth experience.
