Eventually, they settled in a newer community in Dubai. While the apartment met their expectations, the surrounding area initially lacked amenities. Over the past three years, however, Kulik has witnessed the rapid development of her neighborhood, which now offers everything she needs. She expresses her satisfaction, stating that it feels like the best place to live in Dubai.
A Career She Never Imagined
During her time in Dubai, Kulik received an unexpected job offer as the Creative Producer at the Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA) in Souk Madinat Jumeirah. This role opened doors to an industry she had never considered. With a background in advertising, community management, and artist management, she found herself immersed in event production, collaborating with international clients, government departments, artists, and sound engineers.
Kulik acknowledges that such opportunities would have been unimaginable in Russia. The job not only marked a turning point for her career but also positively impacted her husband, who found a better job after being laid off around the same time.
How Dubai Changed an Introvert
Kulik describes the UAE as a land of opportunities, noting that both she and her friends have achieved things in Dubai that may not have been possible elsewhere. She highlights the ease of networking and connecting with the right people as unparalleled.
The city has also helped her evolve from a self-described introvert into someone more open and courageous. She now actively seeks out new connections and is unafraid to pitch her ideas for initiatives, confident that Dubai is receptive to innovation.
This newfound confidence culminated in what Kulik considers her proudest achievement: co-founding what she describes as the UAE’s first independent symphonic orchestra. This initiative brought together around 50 musicians without relying on sponsorship or fundraising, a feat she finds remarkable compared to her experiences in other countries.
Kulik emphasizes the enthusiasm of the people in Dubai, stating that the collaborative spirit makes such projects possible.
