New Traffic Safety Initiatives in Dubai

Dubai Police have unveiled three innovative traffic strategies, dedicated to enhancing road safety and significantly decreasing accident rates throughout the emirate. These initiatives comprise a comprehensive road safety strategy developed in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), along with two specialized frameworks aimed at improving traffic conditions for both residents and visitors alike.

Status and Presentation of Initiatives

The details of these initiatives were shared during a visit by Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri to the General Department of Traffic. Accompanying him were Major General Hareb Muhammad Al Shamsi, who serves as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief for the Criminal Investigation Sector, and Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, the Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs, alongside multiple senior officials within the department.

Innovations in Traffic Management

During this inspection, officials proudly highlighted the department’s achievements in international standards and innovation. Recently, Dubai Police became a member of the International Organisation for the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and secured accreditation from IDEALEST. Currently, four officers have achieved certification as ACTAR experts, further solidifying the department’s commitment to excellence.

The department also presented a series of new projects, including a cutting-edge smart operations room, as well as 20 registered intellectual works that center on safe driving and traffic safety. These advancements reflect Dubai Police’s ongoing dedication to technology and advanced training.

Digital Initiatives on the Horizon

Several significant digital projects are in progress, aiming to streamline traffic management and enhance safety protocols. Key upcoming initiatives include:

  • A unified smart system designed for managing traffic violations
  • The Wasl project, which will link traffic systems with various government and private-sector entities
  • A new digital fines platform to simplify fine payments and processing
  • A driver behavior monitoring system to assess and improve driving patterns

Additionally, the Area 56 project is set to provide a digital operations environment that supports traffic teams, enhancing daily road management efforts.

Commitment to Enhanced Road Safety

The new strategies exemplify Dubai Police’s overarching goal of fostering a safer and more efficient road network within the emirate. By embracing advanced technologies and innovative practices, Dubai aims to create a more secure transport environment for everyone on its roads.
