Dubai Municipality Accelerates Urban Innovation with Launch of First “Work from Park” Initiative
Transforming Public Spaces
Dubai Municipality has officially introduced the “Work from Park” initiative, a groundbreaking effort aimed at redefining public parks as multifunctional urban spaces that blend productivity, leisure, and nature. This initiative is aligned with the Dubai 2040 Parks and Greenery Strategy and seeks to create flexible work environments within parks, enhancing their appeal as vibrant destinations that contribute to a higher quality of life.
Strategic Partnerships for Development
To facilitate this initiative, Dubai Municipality has entered into two Memoranda of Cooperation with Group AMANA and Letswork LLC. These partnerships will support the design, development, and operation of advanced infrastructure for workspaces within public parks throughout the emirate. The first flagship “Work from Park” location is scheduled to open in May 2026 at Al Barsha Pond Park, featuring modular workspaces that adhere to high sustainability standards.
Innovative Urban Model
The “Work from Park” initiative represents an innovative urban model that aims to transform public parks into productivity-enhancing environments. This initiative is designed to support entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small to medium-sized enterprises, while still preserving the recreational aspects of these spaces. The project is part of Dubai Municipality’s broader efforts to activate public parks as urban assets that promote modern lifestyles and economic productivity.
Advanced Construction Techniques
Group AMANA will utilize advanced off-site modular construction technology to develop the first “Work from Park” destination. This construction method allows for units to be manufactured off-site to high-quality standards, then transported and assembled on-site efficiently. This approach minimizes waste and environmental impact while ensuring that the workspaces are adaptable to the evolving needs of users.
Enhancing Community Engagement
The collaboration with Letswork focuses on activating and operating the initiative across public parks, including Al Barsha Pond Park. Users will have access to a diverse range of workspaces, including hot desks, event spaces, podcast studios, and creative production facilities. This partnership also aims to support content creators by developing dedicated workspaces tailored to their needs, thereby reinforcing Dubai’s growing creative economy.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the importance of this initiative in enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors. He stated that the project reflects a commitment to transforming public parks into future-ready urban spaces that support economic activity and align with modern lifestyles.
Richard Abboud, CEO of Group AMANA, expressed pride in being part of the initiative, highlighting the use of advanced modular construction solutions to create high-quality, efficient environments. He noted that this initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision for sustainable development.
Omar AlMheiri, Co-Founder of Letswork, remarked on the significance of integrating their digital platform with Dubai’s public parks. He mentioned that this collaboration aims to provide inspiring, tech-enabled environments that cater to the needs of entrepreneurs and freelancers.
Future Implications
The “Work from Park” initiative will be implemented through a structured public-private partnership model, which will stimulate investment and support the development of a sustainable, innovation-driven urban economy. This initiative not only aims to enhance productivity but also to strengthen community engagement, ensuring that public parks serve as valuable assets for all segments of society.
Dubai Municipality continues to focus on transforming public spaces through thoughtful design and innovative approaches, reinforcing its vision of a vibrant and sustainable city. This initiative positions Dubai as a leader in urban innovation, enhancing its reputation as one of the world’s most future-ready cities.
