Free Public Parking in Dubai for the Hijri New Year Holiday
A Festive Gesture
In a wonderful initiative to celebrate the Hijri New Year, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has declared that all public parking zones, with the exception of multi-level terminals, will be free of charge this coming Friday, June 27. This move aims to provide residents and visitors a hassle-free experience as they enjoy the holiday festivities in the bustling city.
Resumption of Regular Fees
Parking fees will return to normal on Saturday, June 28. This brief respite from parking costs allows more individuals to take advantage of the city’s offerings without the added burden of fees, particularly during a time of celebration and gatherings.
Customer Happiness Centres and Operational Services
While the RTA’s customer happiness centres and vehicle testing centres will be closed on Friday, residents will still have access to essential services. The smart customer happiness centres located in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, and the RTA head office will remain operational 24/7, ensuring that any pressing transportation needs are met despite the holiday.
Adjusted Public Transport Schedule
The holiday will also see some adjustments to public transport services, catering to the increased travel demands during this festive season. Here are the key operating hours:
- Dubai Metro: The metro will run from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM the following day, providing a convenient option for late-night travelers.
- Dubai Tram: Operating hours for the tram are set from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM the next day, allowing easy access across popular destinations in the city.
In addition to these services, the RTA has revised the timings for public buses and marine transport services to accommodate holiday travel needs, making it easier for residents and tourists to navigate the city.
Official Communications
The RTA has taken to social media to communicate this revised schedule, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring smooth transport services during the holiday. A recent tweet highlighted the adjusted hours for customer happiness centres, paid parking zones, public buses, the Dubai Metro and Tram, and marine transport services.
The proactive measures by the RTA demonstrate their dedication to enhancing the quality of transportation services and promoting a sense of community during important cultural celebrations.
More from the UAE
As residents gear up to celebrate the Hijri New Year, it’s essential to stay informed about all the ongoing events and services in the region. From family gatherings to festive outings, there’s no shortage of activities to enjoy in Dubai. The RTA’s initiatives are just one of the ways in which the city embraces its rich traditions and cultural diversity.
