A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy and a suspect were taken to the hospital on Thursday following a shooting that occurred during an investigative operation in Margate, Florida. The incident unfolded around 2:30 PM when the Burglary Apprehension Team was engaged in a case near the 6100 block of Northwest 2nd Street.
The Incident Unfolds
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the situation escalated when the suspect opened fire on the deputy as he investigated reports related to a burglary. The bullet struck the deputy, but thanks to his bulletproof vest, he avoided serious injury.
In response to the shots fired, the deputy returned fire, hitting the suspect. Both individuals were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of now, there have been no updates from the BSO regarding the suspect’s condition.
