Aster Volunteers Strengthens Mobile Healthcare Network to 76 Units with Launch of 5 New Units in Northern India

Expansion of Mobile Medical Units

Aster Volunteers, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) division of Aster DM Healthcare, has launched five new Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in key northern metropolitan areas, including Ranchi, Kanpur, Bhopal, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar. This expansion brings the total number of units in Aster Volunteers’ global fleet to 76, with 54 units operational in India. The initiative aims to enhance last-mile healthcare delivery by providing preventive care, non-communicable disease (NCD) screening, and early diagnosis directly at the community level.

Collaborative Efforts for Community Health

The capital expenditure for this initiative has been supported by Aster Volunteers through the Aster DM Foundation, in collaboration with Thanal (Daya Rehabilitation Trust) and Malabar Gold & Diamonds Charitable Trust. This partnership is designed to ensure robust community integration and the long-term sustainability of healthcare access initiatives. The newly deployed units are specifically targeted at reaching urban poor and vulnerable populations, including street dwellers, slum residents, the elderly, and the homeless.

Previously, Aster Volunteers, in partnership with Thanal, had successfully deployed five units in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Patna, and Kolkata.

Leadership Inauguration

The launch event was attended by key figures, including Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare; Ms. Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director; Mr. Abdul Nazer, Trustee of Daya Rehabilitation Trust (Thanal); and Mr. Filsor Babu, Regional Head of Karnataka for Malabar Group and Malabar Charitable Trust.

Dr. Azad Moopen emphasized the significance of the mobile units, stating that their introduction reflects a commitment to ensuring quality healthcare reaches communities in need. He noted that by delivering essential medical services directly to people, the initiative aims to strengthen last-mile access through preventive screening, early diagnosis, and timely intervention. He described the units as more than just mobile clinics; they are a step toward advancing equitable healthcare and addressing critical gaps in access.

Commitment to Accessible Healthcare

Mr. M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, expressed pride in partnering with Aster Volunteers and Thanal to promote accessible healthcare for underserved communities. He highlighted that the ongoing expansion of the mobile medical fleet is indicative of the trust and long-term commitment shared between the organizations. Ahammed reiterated the focus on operational sustainability and meaningful community impact, stating that together they are building a model of care that reaches the streets, restores dignity, and strengthens lives.

The mobile medical units will provide free primary consultations, NCD screenings, maternal and child health services, health education, and referrals for advanced care. Each unit is equipped with medical-grade interiors designed for safe and efficient healthcare delivery.

Addressing Healthcare Gaps

Aster Volunteers continues to advance its mission of accessible and affordable healthcare through various outreach initiatives. These efforts aim to bridge persistent healthcare gaps by offering timely, preventive, and community-oriented medical support. This aligns with Aster’s long-term vision of promoting equitable and inclusive healthcare for all.
