ArtSpeak Strengthens Community Engagement with Bernice Delos Reyes Event
The Ateneo Art Gallery is set to host “Migration as Inquiry: Diasporic Arts Practices and Artmaking as an Archive” on March 4, 2026. This event, part of the ArtSpeak program, will begin at 9:00 AM in the Ben Chan ArtSuite, located on the second floor of the Soledad V. Pangilinan Arts Wing at Ateneo de Manila University. The program is free and open to the public.
In this session, curator Anna Bernice delos Reyes will explore the significance of community collaboration in the research practices of diasporic artists. Delos Reyes is a co-founder and co-director of Sa Tahanan Co., an organization founded in 2020 alongside artist Augustine Paredes, which focuses on amplifying the voices of Filipino creatives in the United Arab Emirates. Their work aims to highlight arts practice as a vital means of diasporic representation in various creative and cultural sectors.
Delos Reyes’ presentation will discuss shared explorations of themes such as diaspora, memory, longing, and post-colonial identity. By fostering community building, cultural research, and artistic collaborations, Sa Tahanan Co. has created opportunities for Filipinos to engage with contemporary art and culture.
The event aligns with the celebration of National Women’s Month 2026, emphasizing the importance of women’s contributions within the framework of diasporic arts.
About the Speaker
Anna Bernice delos Reyes is recognized for her work as an independent curator, writer, and cultural researcher, operating between Berlin, Dubai, and Manila. Her curatorial focus encompasses narratives surrounding diaspora and migration, often integrating social research and cultural context into her projects. Delos Reyes holds a double degree in Social Research Public Policy and Theater from New York University Abu Dhabi.
