Mayo has emerged as the standout team in the 2026 GAA All-Stars, securing six awards, including recognition for key players who contributed to their All-Ireland championship victory. The announcement, which highlights the competitive nature of Gaelic football, also features 11 first-time winners, showcasing emerging talent from across Ireland.
Among the first-time awardees are three players from Ulster: Armagh’s Jarly Og Burns, Tyrone’s Conn Kilpatrick, and Monaghan’s Stephen O’Hanlon. Burns played a pivotal role in Armagh’s recent Ulster title win, ending an 18-year drought for the county. Kilpatrick’s contributions helped Tyrone’s Edendork clinch their first Tyrone championship, while O’Hanlon’s skills as a wing-forward have been instrumental in Monaghan’s success.
Westmeath’s Ronan Wallace has also been recognized for leading his team to their first Leinster SFC title in 22 years. Louth’s Dara McDonnell, who starred in his county’s run to the All-Ireland semi-finals, is nominated for Young Footballer of the Year alongside fellow nominees.
Niall Scully from Dublin is the sole representative from his county, marking his second All-Star award after previously winning in 2020. GAA President Jarlath Burns commented on the season’s competitive spirit, stating, “An incredible football season that was crammed full of memorable twists and turns has a legacy in this All-Star football team.” He emphasized the significance of Mayo’s achievements and the representation of eight counties in this year’s awards.
The 2026 All-Stars ceremony, where the Footballer of the Year will be announced, is set to take place at Dublin’s RDS Centre on Friday evening. This event not only celebrates individual excellence but also reflects the collective effort of clubs across Ireland, as noted by Burns, who expressed pride in presenting the first-ever All-Star award to Jarly Óg Burns and his club, Silverbridge.
