UAE leads AI investment surge with $678 million raised in H1 2026

Published:

The UAE has emerged as a leader in artificial intelligence investment, raising $678 million in the first half of 2026, marking an 81% increase year-on-year. This surge was highlighted at the Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF 2026), where industry leaders emphasized the shift from pilot projects to AI solutions that deliver tangible business results.

Organized by the Sharjah FDI Office in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Investment, SIF 2026 attracted participants from over 60 countries, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to integrating AI into everyday operations. The event underscored a growing consensus among investors and entrepreneurs that AI is not just a technological novelty but a critical driver of efficiency and profitability.

AI Integration in Business Operations

Pablo Charron, CEO of the UAE-based startup Ayan, shared insights on the practical applications of AI in enhancing sales strategies. His company has successfully deployed AI assistants to provide real-time insights to sales teams, significantly increasing their effectiveness. In a recent project with a luxury beauty brand, the use of AI-driven briefs by frontline advisors quadrupled within 13 weeks, leading to a notable increase in customer engagement.

Charron remarked, “AI impact has to be measured where the sale happens, online and in-store, and the UAE is the right place to build this.” His experience reflects a broader trend in the UAE, where decision-makers are quick to adopt AI technologies that demonstrate clear value.

Funding Landscape and Future Prospects

The funding landscape for AI in the MENA region is rapidly evolving, with the UAE capturing 93% of the total $678 million raised. This financial momentum is supported by government initiatives, including a recent Cabinet decision to implement agentic AI in half of government services within two years. Jigar Sagar, a seasoned entrepreneur, emphasized that the true value of AI lies in its application to real-world problems, particularly in traditional sectors like finance, education, and healthcare.

Saqr Ereiqat, Secretary General of the Dubai Digital Asset Association, noted that the UAE’s early investments in regulatory frameworks and infrastructure have positioned it favorably in the digital economy. “Trust is the new currency, and the UAE is using it to attract capital and talent,” he stated, highlighting the strategic advantages that the region holds.

As the UAE continues to lead in AI investment, the implications for various sectors are profound. Amer Al Ahbabi, chairman of Vertix Holdings, predicted significant changes in finance, stating, “AI will play a major role in how money moves and how assets are managed.” This sentiment reflects a broader recognition of AI’s potential to transform business operations and governance from the ground up.

The SIF 2026 event, themed ‘Building Adaptive Economies,’ aimed to explore how businesses and governments can adapt to global changes and enhance competitiveness. As the UAE solidifies its position as a hub for AI innovation, the focus will likely remain on leveraging technology to drive sustainable growth and investment.
