UAE launches Blue Content Creators Programme to train 50 youth on water sustainability

Published:

The UAE has launched the Blue Content Creators Programme, aimed at training 50 young individuals in creating impactful narratives focused on water sustainability. This initiative, announced by the National Media Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Youth Authority, seeks to empower a new generation of content creators to effectively communicate critical water issues through various digital platforms.

Abdulla Ahmed Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping water-related decisions, stating, “The decisions we make today about water will shape the world inherited by future generations.” This sentiment underscores the programme’s goal of fostering responsible storytelling that resonates with global audiences.

Programme Details and Training Structure

Set to commence in November, the training will span three weeks and cover essential topics such as water sustainability, storytelling techniques, video production, and digital publishing strategies. Khalid Al Nuaimi, Director of the Federal Youth Authority, highlighted that the programme aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills, enabling them to creatively address both national and global challenges.

The initiative is particularly timely as the UAE prepares to co-host the 2026 United Nations Water Conference alongside Senegal in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10. This event will serve as a platform for discussing global water issues, making the training of young content creators even more relevant.

Application Process

Applications for the Blue Content Creators Programme are open to UAE citizens and residents aged 18 to 35. Interested candidates can apply until October 30, with selections based on eligibility, skills, and motivation. The final group will reflect the diverse fabric of the UAE, ensuring a wide range of perspectives in the storytelling process. Applications can be submitted through the New Media Academy’s online portal.

This initiative not only aims to cultivate a new wave of content creators but also aligns with the UAE’s broader commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management. By equipping young individuals with the tools to influence public discourse on water sustainability, the UAE is taking proactive steps towards a more sustainable future.
