UAE Cyber Security Council launches V7 AI malware detection model with 94.7% accuracy

Published:

The UAE Cyber Security Council has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model, V7, designed to detect malware with an impressive accuracy rate of 94.7%. This model was introduced during the GISEC Global 2026 event in Dubai, where the council highlighted its commitment to enhancing national digital resilience against evolving cyber threats. The model was trained on over 200,000 records, showcasing the UAE’s proactive approach to cybersecurity.

V7 aims to differentiate between legitimate files and malicious ones, improving the detection of sophisticated threats that often employ advanced concealment techniques. The Cyber Security Council noted that the model’s development involved a specialized methodology to enhance its ability to recognize patterns associated with cybersecurity threats.

While the council reported V7’s high accuracy, it did not disclose specific details about the malware families included in the training data or the underlying architecture of the model. Such information would be crucial for evaluating the model’s performance across various operational environments and emerging malware types.

V7 Leads Benchmark

In evaluations, V7 achieved a 94.7% overall accuracy and 94.5% in malware detection quality, ranking first among 14 different models and technologies. However, the source did not identify the other models or provide comprehensive details about the benchmarking methodology, making it essential to view these results as claims from the Cyber Security Council rather than direct comparisons with commercial cybersecurity platforms.

Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, described V7 as a finely-tuned malware detection model that performed exceptionally well in benchmarks against other systems. He emphasized the importance of deploying artificial intelligence responsibly to bolster cybersecurity efforts.

Advanced Threats Targeted

The development of V7 comes amid increasing sophistication in cyber threats, with attackers employing advanced techniques to evade traditional detection tools. AI-based systems like V7 can identify patterns and characteristics associated with malicious activities, potentially uncovering threats that have been modified to bypass existing defenses.

Al Kuwaiti stated that V7 is part of a broader initiative to enhance the UAE’s cybersecurity capabilities, particularly in protecting critical infrastructure. He noted that the UAE faces over 800,000 cyberattacks daily, including advanced persistent threats and ransomware.

GISEC Brings Global Cyber Sector to Dubai

The launch of V7 coincided with GISEC Global 2026, which took place from September 16 to 18 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. The event attracted over 25,000 cybersecurity professionals and featured more than 750 exhibiting brands. AI was a central theme, reflecting its growing influence in both cybersecurity defense and the tactics employed by cybercriminals.

As the UAE continues to strengthen its cybersecurity framework, the introduction of the V7 model represents a significant step in enhancing the nation’s digital infrastructure resilience and readiness against emerging cyber threats. For further details, visit Economy Middle East.
