Design competition launched for Eid Al Etihad 55 commemorative stamp in UAE

Published:

The Design Commission Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Emirates Post, has initiated a nationwide competition for UAE citizens and residents to create the official Eid Al Etihad 55 commemorative postage stamp. This announcement was made on September 15, 2026, and aims to celebrate the UAE’s rich culture and heritage through artistic expression, as reported by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

The competition is open to a diverse range of participants, including professional and emerging creatives, as well as university students. Participants are encouraged to submit designs that reflect the UAE’s people, culture, heritage, innovation, and future aspirations.

Submissions will be accepted until October 7, 2026. From these entries, three finalists will be selected, with the winning design set to be announced on November 3, 2026. Each participant may submit one entry, which should include a minimum of three and a maximum of six designs based on a consistent theme.

Along with their designs, entrants must provide a narrative or concept that explains the inspiration behind their work. Emirates Post will oversee the final development, production, and issuance of the winning design as the official Eid Al Etihad 55 commemorative stamp.

The competition also offers financial incentives, with cash prizes awarded to the top three finalists: AED 10,000 for first place, AED 7,000 for second, and AED 3,000 for third. This initiative not only promotes artistic talent within the UAE but also aims to foster a sense of community and national pride through the celebration of Eid Al Etihad.

Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed, chairwoman of the Design Commission Abu Dhabi, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to engage the community in a meaningful way. The competition represents an opportunity for individuals to contribute to a significant cultural milestone in the UAE.
