HONG KONG SAR – The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has achieved a significant milestone by rising 14 positions in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2027, now ranking 18th globally. This marks the first time CUHK has entered the top 20, reflecting substantial advancements in key performance indicators such as employer reputation, international research collaboration, and the ratio of international students. The university also maintained a perfect score in the international faculty ratio.

CUHK’s Academic Excellence and Global Research Impact

CUHK’s academic prowess is further validated by its ranking of 28th in the 2026–27 Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News & World Report, where it holds the position of Hong Kong’s leading university for the fourth consecutive year. Zhamilya noted the advantages of her experience at Hong Kong Science Park, a setting that closely mirrors industry dynamics. She emphasized the value of this exposure, stating that it “feels more like an industrial company,” which has proven invaluable for her career aspirations beyond academia.

Nurturing the Next Generation of Scientific Innovators

CUHK is home to many globally recognized experts who have made significant contributions to their fields. These scholars provide essential mentorship, fostering an intellectually stimulating environment conducive to innovative research. Yasine Malki, a Chemical Pathology PhD student from Hong Kong, highlighted the importance of mentorship in his experience at CUHK. Under the guidance of Professor Dennis Lo, CUHK’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Yasine collaborates with specialists in molecular technologies, bioinformatics, and clinician-scientists, showcasing CUHK’s multidisciplinary approach to medical science.
