Elsewedy Electric Strengthens Egypt’s Industrial Sector with $200 Million Investment in Three Strategic Projects
Cairo – Elsewedy Electric has unveiled plans for three significant industrial projects in Egypt, with total investments projected to exceed USD 200 million. Scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter of 2028, these initiatives underscore the company’s commitment to enhancing local industrial capabilities and boosting the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy. The projects aim to position Egypt as a leading regional hub for manufacturing, exports, and integrated supply chains.
Overview of New Projects
The initiatives include the development of an advanced copper scrap and e-waste recycling complex, a copper tube manufacturing facility tailored for the air conditioning, refrigeration (AC & HVAC), and home appliance sectors, and a new aluminum rod production line focused exclusively on export markets. Collectively, these projects are anticipated to generate over 300 direct jobs and approximately 1,000 indirect job opportunities.
E-Waste and Copper Recycling Complex
A cornerstone of these initiatives is the E-Waste and Copper Recycling Complex, which is a pivotal element of Elsewedy Electric’s strategic expansion plans. This project will involve an investment of USD 80 million, covering both capital expenditures and working capital. It aims to establish a state-of-the-art industrial complex equipped with the latest global processing technologies at a strategically selected site. In its initial phase, the facility will possess an annual processing capacity of up to 20,000 tons of copper scrap and printed circuit boards, creating more than 120 direct job opportunities.
The complex will utilize advanced processing technologies to convert copper scrap and e-waste into high-purity copper cathodes and precious metals. Its engineering design allows for future expansion and increased production capacity. This project exemplifies an advanced circular economy model, as the locally produced copper cathodes will serve as essential raw materials for the new copper pipes factory, thereby enhancing supply chain integration and adding value to industrial resources within the Egyptian market.
Copper Tube Manufacturing Facility
To address the rising demand for components in the AC & HVAC and home appliance sectors, Elsewedy Electric plans to invest USD 65 million in a modern copper tube manufacturing facility. This facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of 15,000 tons and is projected to create over 100 direct jobs during its first phase. The production lines will adhere to the highest technical standards to meet the needs of leading manufacturers in these industries. The initial phase aims to fully satisfy local market demand, thereby supporting the stability of local supply chains and enhancing the competitiveness of related industries.
Aluminum Rod Production Line
In response to growing demand for its products, Elsewedy Electric is also launching a new aluminum rod production line with an investment of USD 55 million. This initiative will leverage the expertise and operational strengths of its facilities in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The new production line is expected to introduce an annual capacity of 50,000 tons and create over 100 direct job opportunities. All output will be directed toward export markets, further bolstering Egyptian exports and solidifying the nation’s position as a regional hub for the manufacturing and export of high-value industrial products.
Strategic Vision
Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric, emphasized that these projects represent a strategic milestone aligned with the company’s long-term vision of creating an integrated industrial ecosystem that connects advanced manufacturing, recycling, and exports. He stated that through these investments, the company aims to enhance value creation within the Egyptian market, develop more efficient and sustainable supply chains, deepen local manufacturing, reduce reliance on imports, and support exports, reinforcing Egypt’s role as a manufacturing and export hub for regional and global markets.
Elsewedy Electric is recognized as a global leader in energy, infrastructure, and integrated industrial solutions. The company operates in 60 countries, owns over 34 industrial facilities, and exports its products to more than 110 countries worldwide.
