Manchester United Faces Savage Summer Clear-Out with Up to 13 Players Set to Depart

Manchester United is poised for a significant squad overhaul this summer, with reports indicating that up to 13 players may exit the club. This move comes as INEOS, the club’s ownership group, aims to reshape the team. Notable players such as Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund are among those expected to leave.

Key Departures on the Horizon

As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United fans are eager for new signings. However, the potential departures are equally crucial for streamlining the squad and generating funds for incoming players. The number of exits could reach double digits, with several high-profile names likely to depart, including Casemiro, whose contract is set to expire.

Casemiro, currently the highest earner at the club, is expected to leave, which would significantly alleviate the wage budget. Additionally, the club is keen to offload Rashford, who reportedly earns £300,000 per week.

Barcelona’s Interest in Rashford

Barcelona has the option to sign Rashford for £26 million at the end of the season. However, recent reports suggest that their interest in finalizing the deal has waned. It is speculated that Barcelona may be attempting to negotiate a lower fee for Rashford. Michael Carrick, a key figure in the club, has indicated that no decisions have been made regarding Rashford’s future, leaving the door open for a potential return to Manchester.

Carrick emphasized the need for timely decisions regarding players, including Rashford, but confirmed that nothing is finalized at this stage. The club is unlikely to accept reduced offers from Barcelona and will consider other potential buyers if necessary.

Loan Players and Their Futures

Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho have spent the season on loan, with Hojlund’s move to Napoli expected to become permanent for £38 million once certain conditions are met. His departure would mark the end of a disappointing tenure at United, allowing the club to avoid financial losses under PSR regulations.

Sancho, who joined Aston Villa on loan, will also leave Old Trafford as a free agent this summer. His time at United has not lived up to expectations since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund for £72.8 million in 2021.

The Future of Other Squad Members

Tyrell Malacia, who has faced injury setbacks, is also among those whose futures are uncertain. Despite being a reliable backup, he has struggled to regain form after missing over 500 days of football due to knee injuries.

United is also looking to offload goalkeeper Andre Onana, aiming to recoup a significant portion of the £47.2 million spent to bring him from Inter Milan. Young goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who impressed during his loan spell at Bristol City, may be given a chance to prove himself in pre-season.

The club is evaluating its options regarding other players, including Altay Bayindir, who has spent much of the season on the bench, and Joshua Zirkzee, who has expressed frustration over limited playing time.

Academy Graduates Facing Uncertain Futures

Several academy graduates are also at risk of being released this summer. Tyler Fredricson, with one year left on his contract, may seek a permanent exit to advance his career. Toby Collyer, who has been on loan at both West Bromwich Albion and Hull City, is eager for regular first-team football and has attracted interest for a permanent move.

Dan Gore, who made his senior debut in 2023, is also out of contract this summer. Despite being named on the substitutes’ bench for several matches, he has faced challenges due to injuries and inconsistent loan spells.

The INEOS management intends to give new signings two seasons to prove their worth, and with Ugarte nearing the end of his second campaign, his future remains uncertain.
