Abu Dhabi Strengthens Crisis Readiness with Transport of 350 Passengers

In a timely response to recent regional developments disrupting travel, Etihad Rail has successfully transported over 350 passengers between Al Ghuwaifat Station in the Al Dhafra region and Al Faya Station in Abu Dhabi. This operation, conducted with the oversight of the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC), marks a significant step demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to maintaining transport continuity amid situational challenges.

Coordination and Strategic Response

The exceptional rail service was initiated following the temporary suspension of certain flights, ensuring an efficient transfer process. Etihad Rail collaborated closely with relevant Saudi Arabian authorities to facilitate this integration of transport services. The operation adhered to rigorous safety protocols and emergency plans, aimed at ensuring secure and effective transit for passengers.

All necessary resources, both technical and human, were mobilized to support the operation without hindering freight services across the national railway network. Freight operations continued seamlessly, demonstrating the resilience and preparedness of the logistical framework.

Leadership Statements

Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, emphasized the importance of a swift national response to changing circumstances. He highlighted the strategic significance of the UAE’s national railway network, noting its efficiency and operational readiness under various conditions.

Al Nuaimi remarked that the transport of passengers prior to the official launch of the service showcases the institutional flexibility of the UAE’s transport ecosystem. He reaffirmed that this operation was a well-considered decision rooted in real-time risk assessments aligned with current regional developments.

Eng. Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, also weighed in on the initiative. He expressed pride in the service as a necessary response to the current situation, reiterating the leadership’s commitment to ensuring the stability and safety of residents in the UAE.

Al Shehhi noted that the operation showcased both the technical readiness of the railway system and the adaptability of the national workforce. He confirmed that additional services would be scheduled as needed, in coordination with the relevant authorities, until air traffic returns to regular schedules.

Proactive Framework and Institutional Resilience

The recent operation affirms Abu Dhabi’s proactive response framework, reflecting a model integrated with institutional cooperation. This framework allows for the rapid activation of alternatives during crisis situations, underscoring the UAE’s capability to manage and mitigate the impacts of regional developments effectively.

Moreover, the successful execution of the transport service signifies the UAE’s dedication to maintaining vital services while reinforcing trust in the resilience of national infrastructure. The readiness and operational capacity displayed during this situation further solidify the UAE’s standing as a stable hub even amidst challenges.
