Strengthening Ties: Deputy Foreign Minister’s Visit to the UAE

Recently, Deputy Foreign Minister Haris Theoharis embarked on a significant one-day trip to the United Arab Emirates, aiming to enhance the economic and business partnership between Greece and the UAE. This visit underscores ongoing efforts to not only strengthen ties but also expand opportunities in both nations.

Keynote Speech in Dubai

Theoharis’s visit commenced in the bustling city of Dubai, where he delivered an impactful keynote address at a business forum focused on the potential for investment in the tourism sector. Both Greece and the UAE are recognized globally as top tourist destinations, making this discussion particularly timely.

This business forum was collaboratively organized by Enterprise Greece and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce (Dubai Chambers), with crucial support from the Hellenic Business Council. Such partnerships are vital for fostering a thriving business environment and encouraging foreign investment.

Engaging with Local Business Leaders

During this event, Theoharis engaged in a crucial private meeting with the CEO of Dubai Chambers. This interaction was pivotal, as it sets the stage for a business delegation from Dubai planned to visit Greece in early 2024. These discussions pave the way for deeper collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two countries’ business sectors.

A Focus on Abu Dhabi

Following his time in Dubai, Theoharis moved to Abu Dhabi, where he met with Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Technology. Their meeting revolved around assessing active UAE investments within Greece and identifying further avenues to boost bilateral economic cooperation. Notable discussions emphasized sectors such as technology and energy, areas where both nations can significantly benefit from collaborative efforts.

Exploring Artificial Intelligence Opportunities

A prominent topic of their dialogue was the rapidly evolving sphere of artificial intelligence. Both officials acknowledged the importance of pursuing innovative solutions in this field, recognizing that collaborative efforts could lead to remarkable advancements for both countries. These discussions reflect their commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and innovation.

Looking Ahead: A Joint Action Plan

Throughout the conversations, it was clear that the two nations have already achieved notable success in their economic relationships, opening up the possibility for even more ambitious, joint initiatives. In light of this, a comprehensive joint action plan is currently under preparation, set to outline strategies for enhancing cooperation over the coming months. The future looks promising as both nations are geared towards solidifying their mutual interests and objectives.
