A Colorful Celebration at the Annual Student Art Show 2025

Overview of the Event

The 5th Edition of the Annual Student Art Show (ASAS 2025) took place on November 1-2 at Amity University Dubai, thanks to the collaboration of Funun Arts Group and Youth Creative Minds Hub (YCM Hub). This year’s event made headlines by setting two new world records: the Largest International Student Art Exhibition and the Largest Canvas Painting themed “We Are One”. These milestones not only highlighted the artistic talent worldwide but also emphasized the unity fostered through creative expression.

A Diverse Gathering of Young Artists

The atmosphere at Amity University Dubai became a vibrant hub of creativity as over 1,200 students from more than 60 different nationalities converged on the campus. Participants included Emirati students, Students of Determination, and international students from countries such as India, Canada, Egypt, Oman, Congo, and Pakistan. The art showcased by these young creators reflected a shared message of harmony and collaboration, aligning perfectly with the spirit of the event.

A Show of Support from Dubai Culture & Arts Authority

The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) lent its support to ASAS, underscoring the significance of empowering the youth and integrating art into daily life. The event kicked off with an Art Parade where participating schools proudly presented their flags and banners, followed by a recitation of the Qur’an and the national anthems of both the UAE and India. The opening speech, delivered by Shiba Khan, the Founder & Director of Funun Arts Group, set an inspiring tone for the two-day festival.

Distinguished Guests and Art Icons

ASAS 2025 attracted a notable lineup of dignitaries, cultural figures, and art leaders. Guests included Khalil Abdul Wahid, Director of Fine Arts for Dubai Culture; Emirati artist Faisal Abdulqader; and renowned artists like Meena Kamal and Sultana Farooq Kazim. The presence of these established figures added gravitas to the event and provided invaluable insights to the aspiring artists.

Record-Breaking Achievements

The Largest International Student Art Exhibition featured an astounding 1,200+ artworks. A significant highlight was the collaborative creation of a 150-meter artwork that captured themes of peace, diversity, and unity. These record-setting moments illustrated art’s ability to transcend boundaries and inspire collective growth and understanding.

Team Effort Behind the Success

The seamless execution of ASAS 2025 was made possible through the hard work of a committed team—mentors, artist volunteers, youth ambassadors, student volunteers, and technical teams from Amity University Dubai. Experienced art educators like Alok Skaria and Dr. Hafsa Banu guided students throughout the creative process, ensuring that each participant felt encouraged to express themselves.

Interactive Workshops and Artistic Exploration

The second day of the festival was devoted to interactive workshops led by accomplished art educators and organizations such as Art Splash and Art Mystic. Participants explored various techniques, including printmaking, clay modeling, and Arabic calligraphy. This hands-on approach allowed students to not just view art but also to create and engage on a deeper level, turning classrooms into immersive learning spaces.

Cultural Performances and Global Collaborations

Adding to the event’s vibrancy, performances from Dance Central and SNF Development Center infused emotional depth and rhythm into the proceedings. The art exhibition displayed an array of paintings, mixed-media installations, and sculptures that captured the global theme of unity. Collaborations with art galleries both local and international—such as The Crearting (Congo) and Art & Talent Zone (Egypt)—further enriched the experience, bridging art communities across continents.

Acknowledgments and Support

Key partners for ASAS 2025 included Amity University Dubai and various media platforms like Khaleej Times and WKND Magazine. Mohammed Huzaifa Khan, founder of YCM Hub, expressed heartfelt gratitude to sponsors, acknowledging contributions from Danube Building Material, Talent Book of Records, and others that helped make the event a resounding success.

Reflecting on the Impact of the Event

Dr. Rafid Alkhaddar, Pro Vice Chancellor of Amity University Dubai, commented on how the Student Art Show highlights the enriching role of education in both intellect and community spirit. It stands as a testament to the importance of fostering connections beyond the campus, while Abraham K. Samuel, Programme Leader at Amity University, emphasized the festival as a genuine celebration of creativity and community.

Funun Arts Group continues to pave the way as a vibrant platform for artists in the UAE, nurturing creativity and providing opportunities for over 3,000 artists and 1,500 students through exhibitions and workshops. This year’s ASAS has undeniably reinforced the mission to inspire the next generation of creative minds in the artistic landscape.
