Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently assessed the progress of the Al Mamzar Beaches development project. This initiative is a key strategic endeavor by Dubai Municipality, backed by an investment of AED 500 million. It is part of a larger AED 3 billion Dubai Beaches development plan aimed at creating a premier family beach destination.

Accompanying His Highness were His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The Al Mamzar Beaches project is a reflection of Dubai Municipality’s commitment to enhancing beach infrastructure. It aims to transform the emirate’s coastline into world-class urban and tourism destinations while fostering an environment that promotes healthy lifestyles, social connectivity, and sustainability.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated that the AED 3 billion Dubai Beaches development plan aims to increase beach capacity for tourists and visitors by 170%. He noted, “Today, I toured Al Mamzar Beaches, one of our strategic projects nearing completion. It will become one of Dubai’s leading family destinations, spanning 4 million square feet and capable of accommodating up to 7 million visitors annually.”

He emphasized the ongoing progress of projects, asserting that work will not only continue but will also accelerate, reinforcing a clear development agenda for future achievements.

His Highness was joined by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning; and His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

Landmark Projects

His Excellency Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, provided an update on the Al Mamzar Beaches project, which is part of a larger AED 3 billion portfolio of premium beachfront developments. This portfolio includes key locations such as Al Mamzar Corniche and Lagoon, Jumeirah 1, and planned expansions in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jebel Ali Beach through 2030.

The project aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which emphasizes enhancing open public spaces, promoting healthy lifestyles, and improving community well-being. It also supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan by advancing beachfront development and strengthening urban infrastructure, in accordance with Dubai’s Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, which aims to position the emirate among the world’s most beautiful and sustainable coastal cities.

World-Class Facilities and Experiences

Designed to meet the increasing demand from visitors, Al Mamzar Beaches will feature 35 service and leisure facilities, all constructed to international standards and accessible to people of determination. The project is expected to significantly boost visitor numbers to seven million annually, with a 500% increase in service capacity, including enhanced safety and rescue infrastructure, and the creation of over 65 new investment opportunities.

Noteworthy features will include the world’s first 24/7 women-only beach offering night swimming, a floating walkway at Al Mamzar Lagoon—the first of its kind in the region—and a waterfront restaurant.

Additionally, over 5.5 kilometers of walking, running, and cycling tracks will connect the lagoon, corniche, and Al Mamzar Beach Park, creating an integrated beach-and-park experience.

Dubai Municipality is also enhancing the digital infrastructure of its beaches by utilizing advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, as part of its smart city initiatives. This approach aims to bolster public safety and improve beach services through quicker response times and intelligent operational systems.

Future-Ready Beachfront Destination

His Excellency Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita remarked that the development will redefine family beach destinations, strengthening Dubai’s network of beaches and waterfronts while reinforcing its status as a global tourism hub. He stated that Dubai Municipality is committed to advancing the Al Mamzar Beaches project, with the destination expected to open soon, delivering high standards of safety, sustainability, and service quality.

He further noted that the initiative aims to develop high-quality beach destinations that enhance the quality of life, boost Dubai’s appeal, and solidify its position as a global hub for beach tourism.

Al Mamzar Lagoon Beach will cover 2.75 million square feet and feature a 300-meter night swimming beach, children’s play areas, gyms, water sports zones, jet-ski docks, and shaded beachfront spaces. Meanwhile, Al Mamzar Corniche, spanning 1.25 million square feet, will cater to visitors seeking privacy and premium experiences, including a dedicated women’s beach with full privacy, sports facilities, art walkways, and seasonal event spaces.

Dubai Municipality has integrated investment opportunities across retail, dining, water sports, and recreational services to encourage private sector participation and stimulate economic activity at the beaches. In line with climate adaptation goals, 350,000 cubic meters of sand were utilized in land reclamation to enhance coastal resilience and provide necessary protection for beachgoers, based on specialized environmental studies.

The Al Mamzar Lagoon and Corniche developments represent a significant advancement in public beach design, offering a comprehensive destination that merges leisure, tourism, and community value.
