Dubai: The UAE Pledge and Commitment initiative has provided residents with a platform to express their gratitude for the safety, opportunities, and sense of belonging they experience in the United Arab Emirates. Launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, this initiative allows community members to acknowledge the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his contributions to national security and social cohesion.

Kazakh resident Almas Nyssanbay expressed that signing the pledge was his way of showing respect and gratitude to the UAE and its leadership. He noted that his arrival in the UAE on December 2, 2022—coinciding with the nation’s Union Day—was symbolic. Living in Dubai with his wife and three children, Nyssanbay highlighted the importance of safety and the multicultural community that thrives in the UAE.
He remarked that recent regional tensions only reinforced his belief in the UAE as a safe haven. Nyssanbay observed that despite external challenges, daily life in the UAE remained uninterrupted, with businesses operating normally and essential services continuing. He began sharing videos of his life in Dubai to showcase the safety and stability of the environment.

Angela Gegg, a British entrepreneur who has lived in Dubai for 15 years, immediately signed the pledge upon discovering it. She actively encouraged her staff to participate, emphasizing the opportunities the UAE has provided her that she believes would be hard to find elsewhere. As a female business owner, Gegg noted that the UAE rewards ambition and hard work, countering the misconception that success comes easily.
Gegg also highlighted the strong sense of community among residents. She recounted instances where fellow residents readily offer assistance, reinforcing the bonds that unite them. Her sentiments reflect a broader pride and appreciation among UAE residents for their home, where the government actively supports their well-being.

Imran Khan, a 30-year-old Indian expatriate born and raised in the UAE, considers the country his primary home. He expressed that his family’s long-standing presence in the UAE—over four decades—demonstrates the opportunities available for growth and development. Khan noted that his experiences abroad often deepen his appreciation for life in the UAE, where he feels a sense of belonging.
He articulated that the UAE provides a nurturing environment for individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their financial status. Khan’s personal journey illustrates how hard work and determination can lead to success, as he experienced numerous opportunities throughout his life.
