UAE Golden Visa Accelerates Opportunities for Content Creators: Eligibility Criteria and Application Process Explained

Dubai has unveiled a significant initiative aimed at attracting global talent in the creative sector through a 10-year residency scheme known as the UAE Golden Visa. This program is specifically designed for content creators, including social media influencers, filmmakers, photographers, writers, and podcasters. The initiative, facilitated by Creators HQ, allows successful applicants to reside and work in the UAE without the need for a local sponsor.

Creators HQ was launched in January 2025 during the third edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, a prominent event for content creators worldwide. Situated at Emirates Towers in Dubai, this initiative is dedicated to providing support through specialized facilities and programs. It also offers services such as Golden Visa assistance, relocation support, and guidance on company setup.

At its inception, Dubai announced a AED150 million Content Creators Support Fund, with the goal of attracting 10,000 content creators and influencers to the UAE. This strategic move underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering a vibrant creative economy.

Who Can Apply?

The Golden Visa program is open to individuals engaged in various aspects of content creation and the creative industries. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Social media influencers
  • Filmmakers
  • Photographers
  • Writers
  • Podcasters
  • Other professionals in the creative sector

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Golden Visa, applicants must demonstrate one or more of the following criteria:

Proven Creative Track Record

Applicants should provide evidence of impactful content creation or creative work within their field. This may include:

  • Established digital platforms
  • Successful campaigns or productions

Industry Recognition

Having received awards, certifications, or notable achievements can enhance an applicant’s profile and strengthen their application.

Contribution to the Creative Economy

Candidates must illustrate their potential to create value and contribute to the UAE’s expanding creative ecosystem.

Consistent Audience Growth and Engagement

Content creators will be evaluated based on their audience reach, engagement levels, and growth over time. Although Creators HQ has not specified minimum follower thresholds, applicants are expected to demonstrate meaningful impact within their niche.

Application Process

The application process for the Golden Visa is primarily conducted online. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Create an Account with Creators HQ

Interested individuals should visit the Creators HQ website and click on ‘Apply now’ located at the top right corner. Applicants can choose between a free basic membership or a paid membership, which offers enhanced access to Creators HQ facilities and services.

Step 2: Submit an Application

Navigate to the Golden Visa services page and click on ‘Apply now’ to fill out the application form. During this process, applicants may need to provide information regarding:

  • Professional background
  • Audience reach and engagement

Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Creators HQ team, with a review period estimated between four to ten weeks.

Step 3: Receive Nomination Approval

If the application is approved, candidates will receive a nomination email confirming their eligibility for the Golden Visa. This email will contain instructions for completing the remaining immigration procedures.

Step 4: Medical Test

On the same day, applicants can visit the Index Tower Smart Salem Centre in DIFC to complete their medical test. It is essential to carry the following documents:

  • Emirates ID (if applicable)
  • Personal photo with a white background

Step 5: Print Golden Visa

Once the medical test is completed, applicants can proceed to the ‘Services 1’ centre in Jumeirah Emirates Towers to process and print their Golden Visa. If the applicant holds an existing residence visa, it must be canceled prior to this step.

For those with a residence visa sponsored by a family member or employer, the visa must be officially canceled if they plan to leave the country permanently. The cancellation process for employment visas is managed by the employer, while family visas can be canceled through a registered typing center or online via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai or the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP).

Step 6: Issue Emirates ID

After the Golden Visa is issued, the Emirates ID will also be processed. Applicants will receive an SMS notification when their Emirates ID is ready for collection from an ICP customer happiness center.
