UAE-based ride-hailing app Zed has announced a significant expansion, welcoming an impressive 10,764 vehicles to its platform through strategic partnerships with Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) and National Taxi. This move positions Zed as the provider of over 80% of the taxis in Dubai, marking a pivotal moment in the ride-hailing landscape of the emirate.
By integrating the fleets of the top three taxi operators in Dubai, including Kabi by Al Ghurair, Zed has cemented its status as the second-largest taxi fleet in the city. This expansion reflects not only a surge in vehicle availability but also an intentional effort to enhance the overall rider experience.
Zed’s Mission to Improve Rider Experiences
The expansion aims to directly tackle common challenges faced by riders, such as availability issues, high cancellation rates, and elongated wait times. Zed believes that by broadening its fleet, it can significantly enhance service efficiency and customer satisfaction—two critical elements in the competitive ride-hailing market.
Leadership Insights on Mobility
“With over 25 years of experience in the mobility sector through our legacy business, Zed and Kabi by Al Ghurair have a deep understanding of Dubai’s commuting behaviors and cultural expectations,” stated Badr Al Ghurair, CEO of Zed. His remarks underscore the company’s intent not just to enter the market but to become an integral part of Dubai’s mobility ecosystem.
Furthermore, Abhinav Patwa, EVP and head of Zed, emphasized that these partnerships facilitate greater scale and reliability. “As Dubai shapes the blueprint for future-ready mobility, Zed is proud to be part of that journey, helping drive progress one ride at a time,” he noted, highlighting the company’s commitment to a customer-centric transport solution.
Innovative Features and Future Plans
The Zed app is packed with user-friendly features aimed at providing a seamless ride experience. Among these is a guaranteed punctual pickup service for pre-scheduled premium rides—a feature designed to cater to the needs of business travelers and those with tight schedules. Additionally, the company has plans to roll out loyalty rewards, digital wallet integrations, and lifestyle partnerships that will enhance user engagement and provide added value to riders.
Supporting a Sustainable Future
This expansion aligns perfectly with Dubai’s Smart City 2025 initiative, which aims to shift 80% of taxi bookings to e-hailing platforms. Importantly, Zed is also committed to supporting a cleaner transport ecosystem by integrating electric and hybrid taxis into its fleet. Such initiatives not only respond to rising environmental concerns but also demonstrate a proactive approach to future mobility trends.
Zed is currently available on both iOS and Android, making it easily accessible for riders across the city. With this significant expansion, it is set to revolutionize the way residents and visitors experience transport in Dubai.
