Longtime Houston radio personality Ryan Chase has officially wrapped up his time with “The Roula and Ryan Show with Eric” on 104.1 KRBE. The news gained traction recently when his profile and other related information vanished from both the station’s website and social media channels, a detail first highlighted by journalist Mike McGuff.
Official Word from KRBE
On the morning broadcast, co-hosts Roula Christie and Eric Rowe confirmed Chase’s departure, though they maintained that they couldn’t delve into specifics regarding personnel changes. Rowe expressed pride in their collaborative efforts over their impressive 23-year partnership. Subsequently, the show underwent a rebranding, emerging as “The Roula Show with Eric featuring Special K & Sam,” although the revised page was later taken offline.
Tracing Ryan Chase’s Radio Journey
Ryan Chase embarked on his radio career at K-Fox 95.5 in Lufkin, all while pursuing his studies at Stephen F. Austin State University. His professional trajectory included a stint at KHMX (Mix 96.5) in Houston before he made his way to KRBE. The late 1990s found him at WXRK (92.3 K-Rock) in New York during the legendary Howard Stern era, showcasing his versatility in major markets. Returning to Texas in 1998, he joined 94.5 The Edge in Dallas-Fort Worth, becoming part of the “Jagger, Ryan and Michelle” morning show.
Chase circled back to Mix 96.5 in 2003, where he rejoined Roula Christie and Eric Rowe to create “The Roula and Ryan Show.” This dynamic trio made the move to KRBE in 2006, quickly becoming a staple of the morning radio landscape in Houston. Their show garnered a dedicated following, and in 2022, Christie received recognition for her contributions to the industry by being inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.
What Lies Ahead for KRBE
As of now, KRBE has yet to announce a permanent lineup following Chase’s departure. The show will continue its new branding with Christie, Rowe, Special K, and Sam as the hosts. However, further insights into the future direction and format of the program remain undisclosed.
