### Leading Innovation in Water Sustainability: SIPCO’s Remarkable Achievement

In a significant milestone for environmental sustainability, Vietnam’s Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO) was honored as the first runner-up in the Innovative Projects Award within the Large Projects category at the fourth cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award. This prestigious award, boasting a USD 1 million prize pool, is overseen by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) and acknowledges scalable, sustainable solutions aimed at combating water scarcity through renewable energy.

### SIPCO’s Groundbreaking Solution

SIPCO’s pivotal initiative revolves around the development of the Ceramic Coating Nano-Silver Pot Filter (CSPF). This innovative program focuses on providing safe drinking water to vulnerable schools and communities throughout Southeast Asia. The unique clay-based filters, infused with nano-silver particles, significantly enhance antibacterial and antiviral properties, effectively purging harmful bacteria, viruses, and sediments from polluted water sources like rivers, wells, and rainwater.

### Efficiency and Accessibility

Each CSPF unit can filter two to three liters of water per hour, making it an efficient solution for households and educational institutions. Designed for longevity, the filters can operate for up to ten years, provided the clay pot component is periodically replaced. SIPCO has established a state-of-the-art automated facility capable of producing 120,000 units monthly, ensuring widespread accessibility to clean water.

### Impact on Communities

SIPCO’s efforts have yielded impressive results; the initiative has delivered over 1.8 million filters, benefiting approximately 13.7 million individuals, including 1.7 million households and around 6,000 schools. Calculating the annual impact, the project generates an estimated 23.15 billion liters of clean water each year, substantially improving health and quality of life for numerous populations.

### Environmental Contributions and Economic Opportunities

In addition to addressing water scarcity, the CSPF initiative contributes to significant environmental benefits. It has resulted in a reduction of approximately 1.8 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, and the project has garnered verified carbon credits under the Clean Development Mechanism and Verified Carbon Standard frameworks. SIPCO collaborates with various organizations, including the Red Cross, and actively engages local communities in the production, distribution, and maintenance of the filters. This approach fosters sustainable economic opportunities in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

### A Message of Unity and Hope

Reflecting on the challenges posed by the global water crisis, Hoang Anh Dung, Chairman and CEO of SIPCO, emphasized the need for collective action. “The water crisis is a serious threat to human health as it leads to the spread of disease. Addressing this challenge requires collective action. No single individual, company or organization can solve it alone. We must come together and work in unity to find sustainable solutions,” he stated. Winning the Innovative Projects Award has been a source of motivation for SIPCO, boosting confidence in the company’s commitment to research and develop more innovations to combat water scarcity.

### Conclusion: A Global Call to Action

As the world continues to grapple with the escalating issues of water scarcity and environmental degradation, SIPCO’s CSPF initiative exemplifies how innovation and collaboration can make a tangible impact. The recognition at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award not only highlights the effectiveness of SIPCO’s approach but also serves as a call to action for organizations worldwide to invest in sustainable water solutions.
