UAE Air Force Response to Iranian Attacks
Recent Military Engagements
The Ministry of Defence has provided crucial updates regarding the ongoing military response from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) air force and air defense forces against Iranian aggression. Since the onset of this conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, UAE forces have effectively engaged with a staggering total of 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 drones launched from Iran.
Interception and Impact on Civilian Areas
In significant military operations, UAE forces reportedly destroyed 20 ballistic missiles on the morning of the second day of the attacks. An additional eight missiles failed to reach their target and fell into the sea. Alongside these ballistic threats, two cruise missiles were also intercepted and eliminated. The response included neutralizing a total of 311 drones; however, it’s important to acknowledge that 21 of these drones managed to strike civilian targets.
The scale of drone warfare has been substantial, with 541 Iranian drones detected during this period. Out of these, 506 were intercepted, showcasing the proficiency of UAE’s air defense. Unfortunately, 35 drones penetrated the air defense perimeter, resulting in material damage within the country.
Casualties and Injuries
Tragically, the ongoing attacks have resulted in the loss of three lives, specifically among Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals. Beyond the fatalities, there have been 58 reported minor injuries affecting a diverse group of individuals from various nationalities, including Emiratis, Egyptians, Ethiopians, Filipinos, and several others.
Debris and Material Damage
The engagement of the air defense systems has led to debris falling across various locations in the UAE. This debris, a result of intercepted missiles and drones, caused some minor to moderate damage to civilian properties. The ministry has acknowledged these incidents and emphasized its commitment to addressing any potential threats and minimizing risk to civilian life.
