MADE: A Platform That Champions Talents Without the Fees

A Commission-Free Model

At the heart of MADE lies a groundbreaking approach to talent discovery—a commission-free model that distinguishes it from many existing platforms. As Nizar, the founder, expresses, “This platform is meant to support talent, not profit off it.” This philosophy is particularly resonant in regions like the UAE, where individuals from diverse backgrounds possess remarkable skills yet struggle for visibility. MADE creates a space where these talents can shine.

The Genesis of MADE

The idea for MADE took root years ago, crystallizing during the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when digital spaces became crucial for work, artistic expression, and social connection. “During lockdown, a lot of people started relying on apps for everything. It made sense to create a space for online talent discovery too,” Nizar recalls. This context led to the development of a platform that caters not just to performers but also to visual artists and creators.

Beyond E-Commerce: MADE for Creators

In addition to showcasing live performers, MADE features a unique section dubbed “MADE to Sell.” Here, visual artists, designers, and other creators can present their handcrafted work directly to buyers. Nizar emphasizes, “This isn’t an e-commerce platform; it’s for hobbyists and creators who can showcase their art and connect with buyers personally.” Whether someone is selling a simple painting or a handmade piece of jewelry, MADE facilitates local interactions that foster community support.

A Judgement-Free Zone

What sets MADE apart from traditional talent platforms is its commitment to simplicity and openness. It avoids gatekeeping and contest formats that often define talent showcases. Nizar recalls suggestions for adding voting or judging panels, questioning, “How do you judge a voice singing in a language you don’t understand?” Instead, MADE empowers users to present their skills freely, allowing audiences to decide organically if they connect with a performer.

User-Friendly Search Functions

Users navigating the platform can filter by price, ratings, category, or reviews, enhancing the experience of discovering talent. For added security, businesses are required to upload a commercial license, while individual users are encouraged to meet performers before committing to bookings. As Nizar clarifies, “It’s not a hand-holding service. We’ve made it efficient and safe, but the final agreement is between the two parties. We just facilitate the connection.” However, actors are currently excluded, as Nizar mentions the inherent complexities in evaluating their craft.

Supporting a Dynamic Entertainment Ecosystem

MADE plays a pivotal role in the UAE’s rapidly evolving entertainment landscape. Nizar acknowledges that younger generations are increasingly opting for freelance creative careers over traditional roles, and platforms like MADE help accommodate this shift. He clarifies that MADE’s intention is not to undermine agencies but to work in tandem with them. “Agents can use our app too. It helps them present their talent faster,” he notes, highlighting the collaborative spirit within this growing market.

The Ideal Locale: Dubai

For Nizar, Dubai stands out as the perfect launchpad for MADE. He cites its infrastructure, talent pool, and supportive ecosystems as primary factors for establishing the platform. “Dubai offers the infrastructure, the talent, and the support systems,” he explains. With tech migration on the rise and creative entrepreneurs flocking from around the world, Nizar believes that the city is poised to lead the next wave of innovation within the creative tech space.

Accessibility and Future Vision

Currently operational in the UAE, MADE has plans to expand into Saudi Arabia and across the GCC. The app, available for free download, offers users complimentary posts or connections monthly, with the option for a subscription that unlocks additional features. Nizar is keen to keep the platform open and inclusive, stating, “Let people test it, use it, and build their visibility.” His long-term vision sees MADE as a go-to tool for events and businesses—perhaps even cruise ships docking in Dubai—seeking performers at short notice.

Removing Barriers to Entry

Ultimately, Nizar’s primary aim is to eliminate obstacles for talented individuals who may be unsure where to initiate their journey. “The whole point is to remove barriers,” he articulates. With MADE serving as an entry point, many might find their footing in the creative landscape, thereby marking an important step toward broader talent recognition in the region.
