Sunday’s Racing Highlights: A Day of Excitement at Sedgefield and ParisLongchamp

Sunday promises an action-packed day of racing, featuring exciting jumps at Sedgefield and prestigious Group and Listed events at ParisLongchamp, all broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing.

1.33 PM at ParisLongchamp: Bay City Roller and Dubai Honour in Group Two Showdown

The spotlight falls on Bay City Roller and Dubai Honour as they prepare to compete in the competitive Group Two Prix du Conseil de Paris. Trainer George Scott has always had high hopes for Bay City Roller, especially after a narrow second-place finish in the Prix Dollar at this venue last time. His connections will be eager to see him make his mark in this race.

On the other hand, Dubai Honour, a four-time Group One winner, demonstrated his capability by finishing close behind Goliath in Baden-Baden last month. If he can replicate that form, he will be a strong contender.

Trainer André Fabre’s Yellow Jersey is still largely untested and is seen as a better option compared to stablemate Junko. Additionally, Convergent deserves a mention as a potential player in this race.

4.06 PM at Sedgefield: Tommie Beau Returns to Face Bumpy Evans

The Michael Watson Civils & Groundworks Durham National at Sedgefield features a rematch between last year’s winner Tommie Beau and the rising star Bumpy Evans. Seamus Mullins’ veteran chaser has been a reliable competitor but hasn’t claimed victory since August 2024. Entering this race with a weight six pounds lighter than when he finished third here last year, he’s certainly not to be overlooked.

Conversely, Bumpy Evans is on a hot streak, having secured victory in five out of his last six races, including a win at Warwick. Competing off a nine-pound higher rating, he appears well-positioned to continue his success.

Other notable contenders include last-time winners Bagheera Ginge and Ivane, both of whom should have a say in the outcome.

4.41 PM at Sedgefield: A Competitive Clash Between Zanndabad and Dickens

The Ne3 Limited Handicap Hurdle at Sedgefield showcases a field of five, with Zanndabad and Dickens leading the charge. Despite finding success under Jennie Candlish with four wins from six starts, Dickens faced challenges last time out and may struggle in this increased grade.

Meanwhile, Zanndabad, who holds a Flat rating of 92, hasn’t found the winners’ circle over hurdles yet, but this switch to handicap racing might finally be his breakthrough moment.

Park Annonciade should not be ignored either, especially considering the strength of his prior performances as he starts under the guidance of trainer Sarah Humphreys.

Additional Races to Watch

At 3.00 PM at Sedgefield, keep an eye on Scarlet Moon, an impressive Flat performer making her debut over hurdles. For 2.50 PM at ParisLongchamp, the Listed Prix Casimir Delamarre features Royal runner Rainbows Edge with Oisin Murphy riding alongside trainers John and Thady Gosden.

Internationally, at 9.10 AM, the G2 Sha Tin Trophy sees last year’s champion, Galaxy Patch, going head-to-head with Voyage Bubble. Also, in Kyoto at 7.40 AM, Embroidery, the Japanese 1,000 Guineas winner, will be aiming for redemption following a disappointing performance in the Japanese Oaks.
