Shorooq Doha Advisory Services receives initial authorization from QFC in Qatar

Published:

Shorooq Doha Advisory Services has received initial authorization from the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Regulatory Authority, marking a significant step in its expansion into Qatar. This development enhances the QFC’s financial services community and supports the growth of a more interconnected regional investment ecosystem.

Shorooq’s establishment in Qatar follows the launch of its $200 million late-stage growth fund, the Qatalyst Series, earlier this year at the Web Summit Qatar. This fund, backed by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and other institutional investors, aims to mobilize capital for high-growth technology companies across the region, addressing a critical gap in growth capital.

Strategic Expansion in the Region

The new office in Qatar will be Shorooq’s fourth regional presence, complementing its existing operations in Riyadh, Bahrain, and Cairo. This expansion aligns with the firm’s strategy to maintain a strong on-the-ground presence in key markets, allowing it to collaborate closely with founders as they scale their businesses.

QFC CEO Mansoor Rashid al-Khater emphasized the importance of Shorooq’s entry into the QFC, stating that it reflects growing regional confidence in Qatar’s investment landscape. He noted that Shorooq’s focus on supporting late-stage technology companies will contribute significantly to the development of Qatar’s venture capital and startup ecosystem.

Commitment to Innovation and Growth

Mahmoud Adi, founding partner at Shorooq, highlighted Qatar’s central role in the firm’s growth strategy. He stated, “Establishing a presence in Doha, within the QFC’s world-class environment, allows us to work more closely with founders and institutions on the ground.” This commitment underscores Shorooq’s long-term vision for contributing to the region’s innovation-led growth.

As Shorooq Doha Advisory Services begins its operations, it aims to strengthen pathways for technology companies to reach public markets, further enhancing Qatar’s position as a hub for investment and innovation in the Middle East.
