This event drew representatives from 115 countries and welcomed over 150,000 specialists, reinforcing the UAE’s pivotal role in the global aviation industry.

The meeting was attended by notable officials, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who serves as Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai; H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
National Investment Fund Announcement
A significant highlight of the Cabinet’s agenda was the approval of the establishment of the National Investment Fund, which will initiate with a capital of AED 36.7 billion. The aim is to foster foreign direct investment (FDI) by offering financial incentives to investors. Sheikh Mohammed articulated the ambition to increase FDI inflows from AED 115 billion annually to AED 240 billion by the year 2031, expanding the total FDI from AED 800 billion to AED 2.2 trillion. “Our message to global investors is clear. The UAE welcomes you,” he emphasized.
Progress on the National Strategy for Industry
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the progress made under the National Strategy for Industry. Over the last five years, national industrial spending surged to AED 110 billion, marking an impressive 244 percent increase. Industrial exports soared to AED 197 billion, with the sector’s contribution to GDP now at AED 210 billion. The target is to reach AED 300 billion by 2031, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to bolstering its industrial sector.
Enhancement of National Identity
The Cabinet also approved the UAE National Identity Strategy, which includes 70 initiatives aimed at reinforcing national identity among younger generations. These initiatives are designed to strengthen social cohesion and solidify family values within the community.
Support for GCC Economic Collaboration
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing commitment to collaborative economic efforts within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The UAE currently leads in economic licenses issued to citizens of other GCC nations, totaling around 36,000. It is also home to over 52,000 property owners from GCC countries, reflecting deep-rooted economic ties. The total trade between the UAE and GCC nations reached AED 333 billion, reiterating the importance of regional partnerships.
Civil Aviation Sector Achievements
The Cabinet received updates about the UAE’s civil aviation sector, which contributed AED 340 billion—or 18.2 percent—to the nation’s GDP in 2024. Airports nationwide handled about 148 million passengers, reflecting a 10 percent increase from the previous year. This growth is underpinned by a significant increase in air traffic operations, confirming the UAE’s strategic role in global aviation.
Agreements and Future Initiatives
In a further push for economic strength, the Cabinet reviewed numerous air transport agreements, enhancing the UAE’s standing in global aviation quality and safety. Moreover, the National Family Growth Agenda 2031 was discussed, focusing on family empowerment and increasing marriage and birth rates among UAE nationals.
Environmental Initiatives
The Cabinet also moved forward with a project aimed at developing a national policy for classifying natural reserves, emphasizing balanced development while preserving environmental integrity. Currently, the UAE hosts 49 protected areas, including biosphere reserves, highlighting its dedication to environmental stewardship.
Legislative Initiatives
In terms of legislative affairs, the Cabinet approved a federal law targeting the protection of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. This law aligns local regulations with global standards, ensuring sustainable access and conservation.
Commitment to Food Security
Lastly, the Cabinet reviewed the achievements of the UAE Food Security Council, focusing on several national initiatives. These include the establishment of a national food cluster and programs aimed at reducing food loss and waste, reinforcing the UAE’s dedication to sustainable food practices.
