A month-long group art exhibition titled ‘Ora Egaro Jon’ is currently underway at Meta Garage in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This vibrant showcase serves as a cultural melting pot, bringing Bangladesh’s artistic flair to the forefront.
Organized by Bangladesh Art Week in collaboration with Meta Garage and Meta Moina, the exhibition highlights the incredible talents of 11 Bangladeshi women artists. The event has been thoughtfully curated by Niharika Momtaz, the designer and founder of Bangladesh Art Week, alongside Venus Hosseini, a noted professional in the performing arts. This joint curatorial effort ensures that the exhibition resonates with creativity and intention.
Inaugurated on April 26, ‘Ora Egaro Jon’ is not just an art exhibition; it’s a vision of cultural representation. Its aim is to promote Bangladesh’s rich cultural tapestry on the global stage, creating opportunities for local artists in international arenas. This aligns with the overarching mission of Bangladesh Art Week, which seeks to foster and elevate the country’s artistic presence globally.
Special guests, including the Director of Alliance Française Dubai, Saïd Nourine, graced the inauguration ceremony, marking the exhibition’s importance within the art community. The showcase features a diverse array of mediums, including paintings, prints, textiles, sculptures, photography, and multimedia presentations. Artists such as Arpita Singha Lopa, Azizee Fawmi Khan, and Farah Naz Moon are among the talented individuals whose work captivates and inspires visitors.
Niharika Momtaz expressed the dream that fueled this exhibition: “I have dreamt of representing my motherland on the world stage. This dream motivated me to arrange such an exhibition.” Her passion for highlighting Bangladeshi artists’ innovations and creativity is echoed throughout the event, which stands as the fourth iteration of this flagship exhibition.
The exhibition’s emphasis on female empowerment is particularly noteworthy. It is designed as a supportive platform for Bangladesh’s talented women artists, fostering their growth and representation in the art world. Each artwork displayed encapsulates not just technical skill but also the unique narratives and experiences of each artist, contributing to a larger conversation about women in art and culture.
‘Ora Egaro Jon’ will continue to grace the walls of Meta Garage until May 25, offering art enthusiasts an opportunity to delve into the rich artistic expressions of Bangladesh. This event is a celebration of creativity, connection, and cultural exchange, ensuring that the stories of Bangladeshi women artists resonate far beyond their homeland.
