An artistic representation of Bangladeshi female empowerment.

A month-long group art exhibition titled “Ora Egaro Jon” is currently ongoing at Meta Garage in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This event serves as an exciting showcase of talent, fostering cultural exchange and appreciation.

Organized by Bangladesh Art Week in collaboration with Meta Garage and Meta Moina, the exhibition is a remarkable endeavor that brings together diverse artistic expressions from Bangladeshi women. The initiative reflects a commitment to celebrating female talent while enhancing the visibility of Bangladesh in the global art landscape.

The exhibition is curated by Niharika Momtaz, the designer and founder of Bangladesh Art Week, alongside Venus Hosseini, a seasoned professional in the performing arts. Together, they have meticulously selected 24 artworks from 11 distinct Bangladeshi female artists. This curated selection not only highlights the individual voices of each artist but also presents a collective narrative of strength, resilience, and creativity.

Inaugurated on April 26, the exhibition aims to amplify cultural activities on an international scale and provide a platform for Bangladeshi artists to showcase their work. Attendees at the inauguration included notable figures, such as Saïd Nourine, Director of Alliance Française Dubai, highlighting the event’s significance in fostering connections within the global art community.

The showcased artworks span various mediums, including paintings, prints, textiles, sculptures, photography, and multimedia installations. Featured artists include Arpita Singha Lopa, Azizee Fawmi Khan, Bubly Barna, Farah Naz Moon, Farzana Ahmed Urmi, Farzana Rahman Bobby, Hasura Akther Rumky, Mahmuda Siddika, Monidipa Dasgupta, Monon Muntaka, and Tamanna Liza. Each artwork tells a unique story, reflecting personal journeys and broader societal themes.

Niharika Momtaz expressed her vision, stating, “I have dreamt of representing my motherland on the world stage, and this dream motivated me to arrange such an exhibition.” The fourth edition of this flagship exhibition aims to bridge the gap between Bangladeshi artists and the international art market, introducing innovative works and creative ideas to a broader audience.

Bangladesh Art Week functions as a vital platform dedicated to promoting the country’s rich art and culture, focusing specifically on empowering female artists through initiatives like “Ora Egaro Jon.” This event not only showcases individual artistry but also advocates for women’s representation and recognition in the creative field.

The exhibition runs until May 25, allowing art enthusiasts and the general public to engage with these powerful narratives of creativity and resilience. As the event progresses, it fosters a deeper understanding of Bangladeshi culture and the essential role of women artists in shaping its future.
