Nakheel Awards $204 Million in Infrastructure Contracts for Palm Jebel Ali, Dubai

Date:

Nakheel, a prominent developer within Dubai Holding Real Estate, has recently marked a significant milestone by issuing three major contracts for infrastructure works on Palm Jebel Ali, one of the UAE’s most ambitious waterfront projects. With a collective value exceeding Dh750 million (approximately $204.1 million), these contracts underscore the ongoing commitment to elevate Palm Jebel Ali as a premier destination in Dubai.

Completion of these infrastructure works is aimed for the fourth quarter of 2026, setting a clear timeline for one of the most eagerly anticipated developments in the region. The contracts have been awarded to DBB Contracting, a well-established construction firm within the Dutco group, known for its extensive experience on the island, including various previous infrastructure projects focused on public access and road construction.

The Palm Jebel Ali development was initiated by UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to enhance the city’s economic ecosystem. The contracts encompass a broad range of essential infrastructure components including utility connections, ground works, and the construction of roads and pavements for Fronds A to G. Additionally, these works will facilitate the installation of 11kV power distribution and telecom utility services.

Another significant aspect of the infrastructure project includes upgrading the Spine District. This entails major and secondary roadworks, utility mains, and connections to utility links on the fronds, as well as rough grading for the DEWA power transmission line that will serve the area. Such developments not only promise improved connectivity within Palm Jebel Ali but also enhance access to modern amenities.

Spanning 13.4 kilometers, Palm Jebel Ali features seven islands, vibrant fronds, and an impressive 90 kilometers of beachfront. This extensive layout is meticulously designed to align with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which emphasizes increased public beach access and the development of riverfront living. Palm Jebel Ali is poised to host mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods that will provide spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf.

In addition to luxury residential and commercial offerings, the project plans to integrate smart city technologies and sustainable practices. These innovations aim to enhance mobility solutions and connectivity, ensuring that residents and visitors enjoy diverse recreational spaces and efficient transport networks.

Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, articulated the vision for Palm Jebel Ali as an embodiment of Dubai’s ambition to redefine global waterfront living. He expressed that this innovative luxury mega project will not only transform the city’s urban landscape but also serve as a world-class destination that attracts residents, tourists, and investors alike. Al Malik emphasized the importance of partnering with DBB Contracting, whose expertise and dedication to quality are pivotal for the successful delivery of this transformative project.

In a related development, Nakheel made headlines in October 2024 by awarding contracts exceeding Dh5 billion for a luxury villa development on the island. Earlier this year, the company extended cooperation with six architecture firms to create ten distinct designs for The Beach Collection villas at Palm Jebel Ali, further showcasing its commitment to innovation and uniqueness in design.
