Abu Dhabi Announces Funding for Creatives

Abu Dhabi, December 25, 2025: The Ministry of Culture has unveiled the impressive selection of 41 recipients for the fourth cycle of the National Grant Program for Culture and Creativity. This initiative highlights the Ministry’s dedicated efforts to bolster the arts scene and cultivate creativity throughout the United Arab Emirates.

Increased Participation in the Grant Program

This year’s cycle saw a remarkable surge in interest, with submissions increasing by 77.6% compared to previous iterations. This growth signals not only heightened enthusiasm for the grant program but also its effectiveness in empowering local artistic talent. The Creativity and Production category emerged as the most popular, emphasizing the Ministry’s structured selection criteria, which evaluates the project’s quality, the applicant’s profile, and its potential impact on the creative industry, along with alignment with Sustainable Development Goals.

Diverse Range of Creative Projects

The range of projects submitted this year reflects a forward-thinking approach across various cultural disciplines. These include cultural heritage, writing and publishing, visual arts and design, film and television, performing arts, music, and video games. This rich diversity underscores the program’s role in providing a national platform that enables creatives to transform their visions into projects that contribute meaningfully to the UAE’s cultural landscape.

Empowering Emirati Talent

His Excellency Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to fostering talent and enhancing capabilities. He remarked, “The National Grant Program plays a crucial role in empowering Emirati creatives by offering a supportive ecosystem for project development and capacity building.” His Excellency praised the variety of projects selected, noting that they blend tradition and modernity, preserving cultural heritage while opening new avenues for innovation.

Recognizing Writing and Publishing Recipients

In the Writing and Publishing category, notable recipients include Fahad Al Maamari, Maryam Al Shehhi, Musabbah Al Mazrouei, and Mohamed Al Astad, among others. These individuals are set to contribute to the literary landscape of the UAE through their innovative works.

Visual Arts and Design Grants

In the realm of Visual Arts and Design, grants were awarded to talented individuals such as Noura Al Serkal and Sheikha Fatima Al Qasimi, who are expected to make significant strides in the art community. Their projects represent the vibrant creativity of Emirati artists.

Film and Television Milestones

Film and Television recipients include Dr. Ali Abdulqader and Ayham Subaihi, who are poised to enhance the cinematic experience in the UAE. Their films and productions are anticipated to resonate widely, enriching the local film industry.

Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts Initiatives

Funding in Cultural Heritage was allocated to Abdulaziz Al Musallam and Dr. Aisha Al Ghais, among others, ensuring that traditional practices continue to be celebrated and documented. In Performing Arts and Theatre, beneficiaries like Omar Al Mulla and Salem Al Tamimi intend to invigorate the theatre scene with exciting performances.
