Michael Brennan secures third PGA Tour title at Baycurrent Classic in Japan

Published:

Michael Brennan clinched his third PGA Tour title at the Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama, Japan, on October 11, 2026, finishing one stroke ahead of Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell. The 24-year-old golfer secured victory with a final round of three-under-par 68, marking his second win of the year.

Brennan, who started the day tied for the lead, demonstrated composure under pressure, carding four birdies and one bogey. “Maybe I didn’t have full control over how I felt but I was more calm today than I have been in weeks past when I’ve been in contention,” he said, reflecting on his performance.

This victory follows his earlier wins at the Bank of Utah Championship and the Wyndham Championship, showcasing his rapid ascent in professional golf since turning pro in 2024. Brennan emphasized that his growing recognition would not distract him from his game, stating, “It’s just golf.”

Schauffele’s Challenge Falls Short

Defending champion Xander Schauffele finished three shots behind Brennan after a final round of four-under-par 67. Schauffele, who was in contention until a double bogey on the last hole, expressed no regrets about his aggressive play. “I definitely played good enough golf to win this tournament,” he remarked, noting his improvement in performance after a challenging year.

Bridgeman, who was looking to secure back-to-back titles after his recent win at the Biltmore Championship, fell just short. He was one stroke behind Brennan going into the final hole but missed a crucial birdie putt on the 17th, allowing Brennan to maintain his lead. “It was nice to know I had two putts on the 18th green,” Brennan said, acknowledging the pressure of the final moments.

Notable Performances

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama finished the tournament at nine-under-par, performing well in front of his home crowd. Three-time major winner Jordan Spieth ended at eleven-under after a final round of 67, while two-time major champion Collin Morikawa finished at six-under.

Brennan’s victory at the Baycurrent Classic not only adds to his accolades but also solidifies his status as a rising star on the PGA Tour. As he continues to build on his success, golf fans will be keenly watching his progress in the upcoming tournaments.
