LG Electronics Expands B2G Portfolio with Expo City Dubai Partnership
LG Accelerates Growth Strategy in the Middle East
On November 19, 2025, LG Electronics took a significant stride in its qualitative growth strategy by entering into a strategic partnership with Expo City Dubai, the innovative urban landscape derived from the Dubai government-supported World Expo in 2020. This collaboration was formalized by LG’s CEO, William Cho, and Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer at Expo City Dubai, marking a pivotal moment in LG’s business-to-government (B2G) expansion efforts.
A Future-Ready Smart City Initiative
The agreement aligns with discussions held during the Korea-UAE Business Roundtable, where representatives from both nations emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation in the realms of artificial intelligence (AI) and infrastructure development. This partnership builds on LG’s existing relationship with Expo City Dubai, known for its commitment to cultivating a people-centric, forward-thinking community. Notably, LG previously provided LED signage and pledged to furnish built-in home appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and ovens, for 3,000 residences being constructed within the smart city.
Supporting Innovative Infrastructure
As part of its Space as a Service initiative, LG plans to offer comprehensive, space-optimized solutions to support the development of this next-generation city. This includes advanced AI data center cooling systems and smart home technologies powered by the LG AI Home Hub platform. With these innovations, LG aims to enhance the overall living experience in Expo City Dubai while showcasing its commitment to sustainable technology.
Strengthening Market Position
William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics, expressed the company’s dedication to contributing to the sustainable growth of the Middle East through its distinct HVAC technologies and AI-driven solutions. “We will accelerate efforts to capture new B2B and B2G opportunities tailored for each country’s strategic direction,” he noted.
Expanding Presence in Key Markets
LG has long maintained a foothold in major markets, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Having operated in the UAE for three decades, the company now manages a regional headquarters that oversees operations in 75 markets throughout the Middle East and Africa.
The recent Memorandum of Understanding signed by LG underscores its commitment to supplying cooling solutions for the Middle East’s largest net-zero AI data center, currently under construction in Oxagon, a high-tech industrial area central to Saudi Arabia’s NEOM project. This agreement, made with ACWA Power, SHAKER Group, and DATAVOLT, positions LG as a prominent contributor to innovative data center infrastructure.
LG’s Journey in Saudi Arabia
LG’s history in Saudi Arabia began in 1995 with its air conditioning partnership with SHAKER Group, leading to a joint venture in 2006 that has significantly bolstered LG’s B2C and B2B segments. In recent years, the company has increasingly engaged in government-driven initiatives, resulting in steady growth of its B2G revenue stream. Looking ahead, LG has set an ambitious goal: to increase the proportion of its B2B business to approximately 45% of total revenue by 2030.
In summary, LG Electronics’ partnership with Expo City Dubai is more than just a business deal; it reflects a broader vision for sustainable urban development and a commitment to enhancing living environments through innovative technology. As LG continues to expand its B2G initiatives in the Middle East, it is poised to play an integral role in shaping the future of smart city infrastructure.
