As Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils, Al Gergawi mentioned that the event serves as a key platform for generating innovative solutions and insights. The councils are seen as laboratories for new ideas that can influence global agendas, particularly at the upcoming WEF Annual Meeting in Davos.
Youth Engagement: A Key Pillar for the Future
During her opening remarks, HE Ohood Al Roumi reinforced the notion that the future cannot be crafted without involving the youth. “Engaging young minds in decision-making is essential for achieving excellence and leadership on a global scale,” she remarked. According to Al Roumi, understanding the aspirations and concerns of new generations is more critical now than ever.
She believes we are navigating a unique decade characterized by rapid developments and intertwined crises. “The current global trust deficit highlights the urgent need to revisit our developmental frameworks,” she added. With trust in institutions dwindling to around 49% in developed nations, the necessity for reassessment has never been clearer.
The Digital Wave and the Role of AI
Al Roumi also discussed the transformative impact of digital technologies. She noted that a significant portion of future economic value is expected to arise from innovative business models driven by technology. “Artificial Intelligence could potentially add up to $7 trillion to the global GDP by 2030,” she stated, but she cautioned that success relies on ethical standards and a well-trained workforce.
However, along with these advancements come escalating cyber threats. Al Roumi outlined a forecast where global costs associated with cyber threats could rise dramatically in the coming years. “Securing our digital infrastructure will be crucial to fostering trust and resilience,” she declared.

Al Roumi pointed out another pivotal transformation is the urgent need to redefine resilience. She explained that our existing systems are struggling to keep pace with the rapid changes occurring globally. “A new approach is required, one that incorporates AI and data-driven insights to create opportunities born from challenges,” she said.

In his remarks, Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum, acknowledged the promising technological advancements alongside the complexities facing the global landscape.
