ISCA Launches Life & Money Matters Initiative to Empower Singaporeans in Financial Decision-Making

SINGAPORE – 3 July 2026 – The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has officially launched Life & Money Matters, a nationwide initiative designed to assist Singaporeans in making informed financial decisions at every stage of their lives. This program aims to enhance financial literacy and confidence among the population.

Initiative Overview and Administration

The initiative will be managed by ISCA Cares, the charitable arm of ISCA, which has dedicated over a decade to community support through various programs, including bursaries and mentorship. Life & Money Matters builds upon this foundation by leveraging the expertise of the accountancy profession to foster practical financial skills and long-term resilience among Singaporeans. This shift represents a strategic transition for ISCA Cares, moving from a model of “giving” to one of “enabling.”

Addressing Financial Complexity in Life Decisions

Financial considerations are integral to many significant life choices, such as pursuing education, entering the workforce, starting a family, buying a home, caring for elderly parents, and planning for retirement. As these financial decisions grow increasingly intricate, Life & Money Matters aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate these milestones confidently.

Community Engagement and Resources

The initiative will engage ISCA members and finance professionals to volunteer their expertise across various communities in Singapore. Participants will benefit from a blend of digital learning resources and community workshops, covering essential financial topics such as budgeting, managing financial trade-offs, planning for the future, identifying financial scams, and fostering long-term financial resilience.

Unlike traditional financial literacy programs, Life & Money Matters emphasizes empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives, rather than promoting specific financial products or investment strategies. The program is designed to be practical, impartial, and accessible, catering to a diverse audience that includes students, young adults, families, seniors, and vulnerable households.

Remarks from ISCA Leadership

Mr. Lee Boon Teck, President of ISCA, emphasized the importance of financial literacy in life decisions. He stated that accountants, as trusted finance professionals, have a responsibility to contribute to society beyond business support. Through Life & Money Matters, ISCA aims to empower Singaporeans to make better financial decisions while providing its members with a meaningful platform to apply their expertise for community benefit. Strengthening financial capability, he noted, can lead to more resilient households and communities.

Rollout and Partnerships

Life & Money Matters will be progressively implemented in the latter half of 2026, in collaboration with community organizations, schools, grassroots groups, and other stakeholders.

Recognition of Contributions to the Profession

During the ISCA Annual Dinner, the organization honored individuals whose leadership has significantly impacted Singapore’s accountancy profession and public service.

ISCA Honorary Membership was awarded to Mrs. Tan Ching Yee for her exceptional contributions to the accountancy profession, public administration, and national development. She expressed her gratitude for the recognition and shared the honor with her colleagues and partners who have supported Singapore’s accountancy sector.

The ISCA Distinguished Lifetime Membership was conferred upon Mr. Phillip Tan for his extensive contributions to the accountancy profession and public service. He expressed his humility and gratitude for the recognition, highlighting ISCA’s commitment to maintaining professional judgment, ethics, and trust within the profession.

Additionally, ISCA presented the Special Appreciation Award to the ISCA Strengthening Small and Medium Practices Taskforce for its leadership in developing a strategic roadmap aimed at enhancing Singapore’s small and medium-sized accounting practices through stakeholder engagement and industry collaboration.
