The Evolution of Dubai’s Entertainment Scene
Dubai’s entertainment sector is transforming rapidly, with Dubai Holding Entertainment (DHE) playing a vital role in that change. Known for attractions like Global Village, Real Madrid World, and The Green Planet, DHE is redefining leisure and tourism in the emirate. As it continues to grow, the group is not only drawing millions of visitors but also reshaping the region’s entertainment narrative.
Global Village Hits New Heights
Global Village had a remarkable Season 29, welcoming more than 10.5 million visitors and featuring 30 pavilions that showcase over 90 cultures. This season introduced exciting new pavilions from countries such as Jordan and Iraq, alongside a unique collaboration between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Strategic upgrades enhanced the overall visitor experience. The introduction of the Restaurant Plaza, which houses 11 new dining options, significantly elevated culinary offerings. Existing favorites like the Floating Market and Railway Market now boast over 200 food outlets, comprising a variety of cuisines ranging from Asian street food to trendy desserts.
Additional improvements included expanded green spaces, shaded seating areas, and a revamped Carnaval®, featuring over 200 rides and game options. New attractions such as Neon Galaxy X Challenge Zone and EXO Planet City further enriched the entertainment lineup. The season also featured live performances from acclaimed artists like Tamer Hosny and Amr Diab, along with tribute shows celebrating legends such as ABBA and Freddie Mercury.
Strategic Focus for 2025
DHE’s strategy for 2025 is shaped by three significant market trends: families increasingly seeking authentic experiences, a rising interest in premium outdoor hospitality, and the desire for more integrated entertainment journeys. This understanding drives the group’s priorities towards creating rich storytelling, high-end amenities, and multi-faceted visitor experiences, designed to foster engagement and encourage repeat visits.
In Dubai Parks and Resorts, efforts are underway to enhance operational efficiency and streamline ticketing, ensuring visitors can enjoy a cohesive experience across various attractions. The recent launch of Real Madrid World, featuring the world’s tallest wooden rollercoaster, Hala Madrid, exemplifies this approach. It presents not only football-related attractions but also interactive experiences accessible to all age groups.
Riverland Dubai is also experiencing transformation with the addition of anchor attractions like Perplex City and an Axe Throwing Arena, further enhancing the visitor experience through a variety of thematic dining and recreational options.
Cultural and Educational Experiences
Attractions such as The Green Planet and the Inside Burj Al Arab tours are instrumental in cementing Dubai’s stature as a global entertainment hub. They offer immersive experiences that combine leisure with education, catering to tourists from various backgrounds. Wild Wadi Waterpark continues to be a favorite among families, attracting both locals and tourists alike.
The Green Planet, recognized for its environmental focus, recently earned accolades as the Best Edutainment Centre at the MENALAC Awards 2025. Additionally, Tripadvisor listed it as one of the Best of the Best for 2025, reflecting its commitment to quality and engagement. Other DHE attractions received significant recognition as well, including Global Village, which was awarded for Best Theme Park and Best Visitor Attraction.
Strategic Partnership with Trip.com Group
DHE has entered an important collaboration with Trip.com Group to enhance accessibility for Chinese tourists, who represent a crucial outbound travel market. This partnership aims to provide tailored packages, multilingual resources, and easy booking options for Chinese travelers, aligning with DHE’s broader strategy to expand its international footprint and support Dubai’s aim to be a top global destination.
Contributions to Dubai’s Tourism Goals
In alignment with Dubai’s vision for tourism, DHE contributes significantly to citywide initiatives such as Dubai Summer Surprises and the Dubai Fitness Challenge. By collaborating closely with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, DHE ensures that its destinations are central to these key activations, bringing diverse experiences to various audience segments.
Moreover, partnerships with global online travel agencies, along with collaborations with regional developers and food and beverage providers, play a crucial role in enhancing exposure and crafting unforgettable experiences. This collective effort reinforces Dubai’s status as a premier international destination for entertainment and leisure.
