In response to these challenges, Abu Dhabi launched Tamm, an AI-powered super app designed to facilitate government services. Named after the Arabic word for “done,” Tamm allows users to access over 1,000 public and private services through a single application. This innovation showcases the UAE’s commitment to reducing bureaucracy and improving the quality of life for its citizens and residents. Tamm embodies a significant shift in how government services can be streamlined, making it easier for users to complete necessary tasks without the burden of cumbersome paperwork.

Recently, Tamm garnered international attention when Microsoft President Brad Smith praised it during a US Senate committee hearing. His endorsement highlights not only the app’s innovative technology but also the necessity of similar solutions in other parts of the world, including the United States. Smith emphasized the importance of bringing such technologies to America, showcasing how Tamm serves as a beacon for modern governmental efficiency.

The Push for Zero Government Bureaucracy

In addition to Tamm, the UAE has implemented various initiatives aimed at reducing red tape. One such initiative is the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme, announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This national project aims to simplify, accelerate, and enhance government services.

The initial phase of the programme successfully eliminated over 4,000 unnecessary or duplicate procedures. As a result, it saved the public and businesses approximately 12 million hours and allowed for a monetary efficiency of about Dh1.12 billion (roughly $326.7 million). Such efforts reflect a determined focus on user experience, ensuring services are not only efficient but also tailored to the community’s needs.

The UAE has implemented a multi-faceted strategy to improve service delivery. Notably, an advanced Emirates ID system connects residents with various governmental services, heightening operational efficiency. Furthermore, measures like public rankings of government departments and employee bonuses incentivize high performance.
