Yo Yo Honey Singh: From Rags to Riches and Timepieces

In a city that measures itself in ambition and audacity, Yo Yo Honey Singh fits right in. Arriving in Dubai not just as a rapper or performer, he embodies resilience and triumph, showcasing this through his latest venture—a limited-edition timepiece. With the launch of Yo Yo Watches, a luxury line in collaboration with Titan and Dubai-based lifestyle brand Opul, Singh is making a stylish statement about survival, swagger, and the unwavering rhythm of time.

The Man Behind the Watch

Before delving into the world of luxury watches, we had a chance to sit down with Singh, who, despite his superstar status, exuded a grounded charm. Dressed casually yet with a keen sense of style, he recounted his early experiences with watches. The mention of his first significant piece, a Rolex with an Arabic dial, sparked a wave of nostalgia.

“It was custom-made, very blingy,” he recalls, a hint of pride in his voice. “At the time, I was more of a watch collector. That piece really excited me.”

Reflecting on his past, he admits to a youthful obsession with flashy timepieces. “I was a blingy kind of person, collecting all sorts of extravagant watches.” But as he transitions from bling to wisdom, his relationship with time has matured.

Time as a Teacher

Fast forward to 2025, and Honey Singh has transformed. Not just a beatmaker, he is now sharing insights gained from years of experience. “Time doesn’t wait, and neither did I,” he shares thoughtfully. For him, time has served as a mentor—one that has tested, refined, and rebuilt him through trials and triumphs. His philosophy is captured beautifully:

“After God, the two things I respect most are my mother, and time. That’s the hierarchy: God, Mother, Time.”

His watch line reflects this philosophy, boasting bold bezels, unapologetic designs, and meticulous craftsmanship; each piece embodies Singh’s journey and evolution.

The Evolution of Honey Singh

Though celebrated for his party-like persona, Singh’s off-stage demeanor is unexpectedly introspective. He emphasizes the importance of his close circle, who know him as Hirdesh rather than Honey. This connection keeps him grounded. Every time he visits India, making a pilgrimage back to his childhood home in Karam Pura, he is reminded of his roots.

“If your focus is clear about where you’re coming from and where you’re going, life is sorted,” he asserts. “I know where I’m going. That leads to Hollywood, and I know where I started.”

Despite his busy career, some aspects of his personality remain unchanged. When asked about how he’d spend a day off in Dubai, he chuckles, “I’d be on a date, then a good restaurant, music, and gym. That’s my vibe.” Underneath the tough exterior, he admits,

“People don’t know I’m too romantic. If I were to act, I’d give Shah Rukh Khan competition.”

The Allure of Dubai

Choosing to launch Yo Yo Watches in Dubai is deeply personal for Singh. The city is more than a backdrop; it’s a part of his story. He’s performed here, filmed music videos, and made it his home.

“What draws me back?” he muses. “The unity. Different people from various backgrounds all living like family.”

Singh appreciates the warmth of Emirati hospitality and finds inspiration in the cultural landscape. Known for his unconventional workflow, he tends to sleep at dawn and rise around 4 PM, finding his creative peak between 10 PM and 3 AM.

His musical taste reflects this eclecticism, with influences ranging from A.R. Rahman and Dr. Dre to R.D. Burman and Mohammad Rafi. This blend of the past and present fuels his creative process.

Nostalgia and Future Aspirations

While he claims he wouldn’t relive any past career moment, he often reminisces about his school days in Karam Pura—those carefree times of bunking classes and aimless wandering, which he describes as “gold.”

Looking ahead, Singh is not just resting on his current successes; he’s already planning for 2035. His latest release, a song titled 6am, premiered recently and quickly garnered over 16.5 million views. It’s clear that the vision for his future is bright, with exciting projects on the horizon.

“Yo Yo 2025 is already manifesting the next ten years,” he confidently states. “I’m the visionary and the executor.”

With his limited-edition watches and a fresh take on life, Honey Singh remains a powerful force, embodying the relentless march of time—timeless in his artistry and unwavering in his journey.
