UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology Strengthens Industrial Resilience at Supply Chain Continuity Forum
Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) convened the “Industrial Resilience and Supply Chain Continuity Forum” on April 9, 2026, in Abu Dhabi. This event saw high-level participation from various ministries, industry leaders, and experts, focusing on enhancing the UAE’s industrial sector amid global supply chain challenges.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to transforming challenges into achievements. He noted that the nation is on the verge of launching the largest edition of “Make it in the Emirates” (MIITE), set to take place from May 4-7, 2026, at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.
Strengthening Industrial Exports
Dr. Al Jaber highlighted that the UAE’s industrial exports have doubled since 2020, reaching AED 262 billion. Exports from medium- and high-tech industries alone have surpassed AED 92 billion, achieving the 2031 target six years ahead of schedule. He called on the industrial sector to view the current phase as a national opportunity for growth, reinforcing the importance of self-sufficiency in food, medicine, and machinery.
The forum served as a platform to discuss actionable strategies for overcoming disruptions in global trade. Dr. Al Jaber stated that countries lacking manufacturing capabilities remain vulnerable to market fluctuations. He urged stakeholders to commit to enhancing the quality of domestic products to ensure competitiveness.
MIITE 2026: A Landmark Event
The upcoming MIITE 2026 will feature 1,022 exhibiting companies across 88,000 square meters, with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) making up 60% of the exhibitors. This year’s edition marks a significant leap in participation, reflecting the UAE’s strategic investments over the past five years to build a resilient industrial base.
H.E. Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Undersecretary of MoIAT, noted that the event will introduce new initiatives, including an enhanced In-Country Value (ICV) program and new financing options. He emphasized that the UAE is entering this phase not in a reactive state but from a position of strength.
Collaborative Efforts for Economic Resilience
The forum also built upon the outcomes of the “Virtual Industrial Council,” which identified key pain points within the sector. Discussions focused on business continuity, raw material supply, and financing, particularly for SMEs. The aim is to create practical solutions that enhance the UAE’s industrial resilience and competitiveness.
H.E. Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC Group, remarked on the importance of local manufacturing as a cornerstone for achieving self-sufficiency. He stated that MIITE serves as a platform to showcase achievements and foster partnerships that unlock access to new markets.
Future Initiatives and Policy Framework
At MIITE 2026, MoIAT will unveil forward-looking initiatives aimed at strengthening the UAE’s industrial resilience. These include the next generation of the ICV program and an upgraded Industrial Technology Transformation Index. The focus will be on creating a technologically advanced and globally competitive industrial base.
The agenda for MIITE 2026 will feature a keynote address by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, followed by discussions on strategic partnerships and the role of family businesses in driving economic growth.
