German Delegation Conducts Strategic Business Talks at IFZA in Dubai

Date:

**Dubai, UAE – A Strategic Nexus for German SMEs**

In the dynamic arena of global trade, German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are actively navigating toward stable and strategic markets for their international expansion. This trend was epitomized by a high-level business delegation from the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW), which visited Dubai and Abu Dhabi recently. The visit was graciously hosted by the International Free Zone Authority (IFZA), known as one of Dubai’s most vibrant free zone communities, designed to enhance business growth and network opportunities.

**Strengthening Bilateral Relations**

The timing of this visit is particularly significant, as German SMEs increasingly look towards international markets, with the UAE serving as a prominent destination. Upon their arrival, the delegation received a warm welcome from H.E. Sybille Pfaff, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Dubai. She provided insightful remarks that underscored the robust bilateral ties between Germany and the UAE, spotlighting the rising importance of economic partnerships. The agenda included comprehensive presentations led by IFZA, covering aspects like company formation, legal frameworks, tax efficiencies, and market opportunities, complemented by success stories of German enterprises flourishing in Dubai.

“Dubai offers German entrepreneurs more than just a foothold in the Middle East – it serves as a gateway to the emerging markets of Asia and Africa,” remarked Jochen Knecht, CEO of IFZA. He emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating the benefits German businesses can derive from the UAE’s liberal business landscape and superior infrastructure. Knecht expressed confidence that this visit would pave the way for enhanced collaboration and investment between the two nations, driving shared growth.

**Recognizing Leadership and Contributions**

A notable moment during this visit was when IFZA Chairman Martin G. Pedersen received an honorary title from the BVMW. His outstanding contributions to SMEs and responsible leadership in both business and society earned him the title of Honorary Economic Senator (Wirtschaftssenator h.c.), thereby granting him a position in the BVMW’s esteemed Federal Economic Senate (BWS).

**Discussions on Global Trade Dynamics**

The discussions held were multifaceted, focusing on global supply chains and the pivotal role of Dubai in international business and trade networks. Delegates engaged in exploring the emirate’s vast investment opportunities while converging on a shared vision to attract multinational corporations and rapidly growing startups from Germany to Dubai. A key highlight was a reception hosted at the German Embassy in Abu Dhabi, further reinforcing the strong bilateral relationship shared between Germany and the UAE.

“The three-day exchange with IFZA marked another key milestone in our ongoing collaboration,” stated Christoph Ahlhaus, Chairman of the BVMW Federal Executive Board. He described the Gulf region as one of the fastest-growing economies globally and reiterated the immense potential the UAE represents for German SMEs. His remarks underscored the delegation’s aim to broaden international engagement and the significance of IFZA as a trusted local partner. Ahlhaus expressed confidence that their collective efforts would bolster the German economy’s presence in the UAE.

**Networking and Cultural Immersion**

The delegation’s itinerary was rich with networking opportunities, including a desert dinner and cultural excursions, along with a visit to the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). These activities provided a thorough overview of the myriad business and lifestyle benefits that Dubai offers, further entrenching relationships between German and Emirati businesses.

**A Vital Trade Partnership**

Germany has long been a vital trading partner for the UAE, maintaining its status as the second-largest EU trading partner for the nation and ranking 13th globally. As trade relations continue to deepen, German SMEs are finding significant value in tapping into the UAE’s markets, with IFZA standing as a prominent partner. Boasting over 2,500 professional partners worldwide, IFZA is well-positioned to assist German businesses in future-proofing their international expansion strategies.
