To combat these emerging risks, the FSA is actively collaborating with local authorities to manage and mitigate these concerns. Initially a local creation, the trend exploded in popularity, especially in 2023, when a food influencer’s video showcasing the treat became a viral sensation, racking up millions of views.

In response to skyrocketing demand, many UK retailers have launched their renditions of the chocolate, creating a market of varied options. For example, Aldi recently introduced its version at an attractive price point, illustrating the treat’s ongoing popularity.

As the phenomenon continues to evolve, consumers must remain aware and informed about the risks associated with certain imported versions of Dubai-style chocolate. Staying vigilant can help ensure a delicious experience without compromising health and safety.
