Zayed National Museum Set to Open December 2025

Just shortly after the debut of the Natural History Museum, the Zayed National Museum is gearing up to welcome visitors on December 3, 2025. This significant cultural institution will celebrate the life, vision, and enduring legacy of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Location and Purpose

Nestled within the vibrant Saadiyat Cultural District, the Zayed National Museum will trace the evolution of the UAE from its early civilizations to its current status as a dynamic nation. With six permanent galleries, the museum aims to offer a comprehensive narrative of the UAE’s rich history.

Permanent Galleries Overview

The museum’s exhibit space features the following galleries, each aimed at highlighting distinct aspects of Emirati heritage:

  • Our Beginning – This gallery delves into the values and legacy of Sheikh Zayed, shedding light on his pivotal role in shaping the nation.
  • To Our Ancestors – Focused on life dating back 300,000 years, this exhibition uncovers the ancient human history of the UAE.
  • Through Our Connections – Highlighting the significance of trade, language, and technological advancements, this section underscores the interconnectedness of cultures.

Architectural Design

Renowned design firm Foster + Partners is behind the museum’s striking architecture, which is inspired by the image of a falcon’s wings in flight—symbolizing the UAE’s cultural heritage. Inside, more than 3,000 artefacts will tell the story of the nation, including a remarkable 300,000-year-old stone tool that was excavated in Al Ain. Each exhibit aims to foster a deeper understanding of the UAE’s history and cultural identity.

Interactive Cultural Programming

Beyond its static displays, the Zayed National Museum will provide a variety of enriching experiences. Visitors can expect a range of cultural performances, workshops, talks, and film screenings. These interactive offerings will seamlessly blend the tradition of Emirati culture with modern innovation, creating an engaging environment for all ages.
