A Gateway to Nature

Nestled in the vibrant city of Al Ain, often referred to as the ‘Garden City’ of the UAE, Al Ain Zoo stands out as a remarkable destination where families can engage with nature and wildlife. With a rich collection of over 4,000 animals, this zoo is not just one of the largest in the region; it also offers a unique opportunity for visitors of all ages to connect with animals and foster a love for conservation.

A Legacy of Conservation

Established in 1968 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the zoo reflects his enduring vision to protect and promote understanding of the UAE’s diverse wildlife. Today, over five decades later, the institution continues to honor his legacy through its commitment to animal care and conservation efforts. These initiatives focus on safeguarding endangered species and educating the public about the importance of biodiversity.

Every trip to Al Ain Zoo ensures unforgettable experiences. Children can indulge in the joy of feeding giraffes and witnessing the regal desert eagle owl up close. Families can enjoy moments of wonder as they observe the playful antics of the lemur family, while knowledgeable animal care specialists share fascinating stories throughout various exhibits. Starting November 1, 2025, visitors can look forward to exciting new additions, including a gorilla sanctuary along with the reopening of hippo and crocodile exhibits. Each aspect is designed to be engaging yet respectful of the animals’ natural behaviors and habitats.

Unique Safari Experiences

A key highlight of Al Ain Zoo is the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre. This award-winning educational facility combines interactive exhibits and immersive displays to engage visitors in discussions around sustainability and biodiversity. The center serves as a reminder that everyone plays a crucial role in maintaining the planet’s health. Adding to the allure, The Heritage Show captivates audiences daily at 6:30 PM, featuring a stunning projection mapping light show that brings to life stories celebrating the UAE’s rich natural and cultural heritage.

A Sanctuary of Life

Al Ain Zoo transcends the typical perception of a zoo; it functions as a sanctuary dedicated to life and education. Each habitat is meticulously designed to replicate natural environments, offering essential enrichment for both rare and endangered species. Behind the scenes, dedicated professionals work tirelessly on breeding programs and conservation research, forging international partnerships aimed at preserving wildlife for future generations.
